Foundation

Gone are the days where spending $30-40 dollars on foundation is necessary. After all, it is literally money going down the drain when you wash it off at night! L’Oréal’s line of infallible foundations provide full coverage and precise color matching at drug store prices – only $12.99 a bottle! I use the 24 hour Total Coverage formula in “Caramel Beige” and absolutely adore it. I often find foundation to have heavy orange tones, but Caramel beige matches my brown skin tone perfectly. Pro Tip: Set your Infallible Foundation with Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder for an airbrush-like finish.

Tinted Moisturizer

Infallible Total Coverage is definitely my favorite foundation (duh), but it does not shield harmful UV rays. So, before I start my never ending art project (aka paint my face), I lather up with the Tinted Veil Moisturizer in medium deep. This product by Winky Lux moisturizes and protects thanks to the SPF 30! The perfect dog walking makeup right here!

Mascara

Almay One Coat Mega Volume Mascara is my favorite and has been since I wrote this thorough review over a year ago. I think that says a lot right there. I have tried several other intermittently, but they either don’t provide enough volume or flake onto my lower lids. If you’re not convinced yet, you will be after reading this.

Eyeshadow

The Born to Run eyeshadow palette has been my go-to as of late. I’ve always been a fan of Urban Decay’s shadows…especially the Nakeds. In fact, the Naked Petite heat palette was the only eyeshadow I used in Colombia. But the Born to Run palette is a little bit of everything combined into one! Featuring matte smokey hues, and bronzy metallic hues, create everyday chic or drama queen looks with this full package.

Concealer

Dark under eye circles will forever be my problem area. Lucky me! But thanks to Shape Tape Contour Concealer, my under eyes have never looked brighter. This stuff provides full coverage and it lasts aaaallll day. Read more reasons why I love it here.

Eyeliner

I used to line my eyes with a pencil and found myself sharpening the thing after every use. I graduated to a retractable liner, but found myself breaking off the tip too frequently. Those problems could be avoided with a liquid liner, but it’s just too heavy for me. Introducing the Almay Pen Eyeliner – a Sharpie-like marker for your eyes! It is faster and easier to apply than pencil or liquid…literally life-changing.

Contour Stick

The NYX Wonder stick is WONDERFUL. Contour/highlighting products are usually available in powder or cream form but after using this thing, I will never go back to a palette and brush. It is preciser and easier to paint directly on your face and blend with your fingers. Thank you NYX for giving me the chiseled cheeks I never had!

Highlighter

For a little extra somethin’ somethin’ on your cheek bones, top the contour stick with Charm Holographic Highlighter. This shimmery stuff appears white but blends in with a pink tint! I love the brightening effect between this and my rosey blush.

Lippie

MGS lipstick is where the color is at! I am currently crushing on “Frisky” (as seen here) and “Lovable” (as seen here). While this formula does not last as long as the Sephora brand lip stain, the rich hues are unmatchable. I’m sold!

Blender

I have said it before, and I am saying it again, the BeautyBlender is a miracle worker. The shape, the texture, and the flexibility work together to seamlessly blend your makeup at a professional level. Bonus: This product is ideal for traveling – it barely takes up room in your makeup bag. But don’t take my word for it, read the 7,000 plus reviews on Sephora website!

1. Everyone has a “problem area” when it comes to their skin and face. Mine is undoubtedly under-eye dark circles. Unfortunately these things haunt those with an olive complexion…my number one defense against ’em is DermaBlend’s Cover Cream in Yellow Beige. Using Mac’s 190 Foundation Brush, I apply an upside down triangle underneath my eyes for full coverage. This stuff is truly a miracle worker!

2. bareMinerals Original Foundation in “Medium Tan” owns me – I do not hit the streets without it. Great for moderate coverage all while protecting your skin from dangerous UV rays thanks to the SPF 15 component.

3. Who would have thought that your eyebrows could affect your entire look?! Well, they sure can and the Brow Wiz from Anastasia Beverly Hills will brighten your face – giving you an effortlessly primped appearance. This hot commodity is a fabulous temporary way to create the volume and shape you’ve always wanted for your brows.

4. Long luscious lashes. Isn’t that the goal of ever beauty aficionado?! After many years and many tubes of mascara, the verdict is in. If you want to lengthen, darken, and volumize your lashes, L’Oréal’s Voluminous Butterfly Mascara in “Blackest Black” does just that, while the revolutionary brush design helps you paint those hard-to-reash corner lashes.

5. The Naked eyeshadow palette is my savior. Whether you are going for a natural look, or a dramatic one, make it all happen singlehandedly with this palette. On a regular day I depend on “Darkhorse,” “Half Baked,” and “Smog.” For best results, use All Nighter setting spray in lieu of eyeprimer before applying shadow.

If you already own any or all of the first three Naked eyeshadow palettes, then you have probably noticed that each kit has a theme. For example, the original Naked features an assortment of bronzy hues and neutrals – the shadows I wear most often. Naked 3 on the other hand, is comprised of rosey hues and neutrals – great for a special occasion or night on the town. It appears that Naked Smoky includes a diverse color range. According to an article published by Refinery29, founder Wende Zomnir explains there are as many as 15 steps in creating a smokey eye and with this palette alone, “whether it’s a super-intense black, supermodel smoky eye, or just a little more intense than you would normally wear — the office smoky eye,” you’ll be able to “nail it.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! Not sure how to create a supermodel approved smokey eye? Not to worry – included with the palette is a set of explicit instructions to help you achieve this look. Aside from the fabulous shades, evidently the dual-sided brush was designed with smoke in mind, making blending and smudging easier than ever.

If you are on the petite side, midi skirts can be a little bit tricky. We are already blessed with short legs, so we tend to compensate by wearing garments that give off an elongated appearance (jumpsuits, high-waisted pants, “sky high” high heels, etc.). That is why it is very important to make sure your midi skirt hits at mid-calf…even if it means a trip to the tailor! Before styling the dress below, I had it shortened about 3.5 inches. Once you’ve arrived at the appropriate length, try pairing your midi with nude shoes – they do a great job lengthening your legs.

I highly recommend a fitted top when styling a full midi skirt. That is why I was drawn to the “Lead a Charmed Life Midi Dress.” Featuring a fitted bodice, spaghetti straps, and open back design, feel flirty and sassy while wearing this little number! To breakup all of the pink, I threw on a chunky pearl necklace, and polished off the look with my rose gold watch, an embellished leather bracelet, and my point-toe nude pumps. I definitely needed to use that leg lengthening trick mentioned above. Quantities are limited in this dress, so hop to it and shop this look below.

With all of the pink going on in the ensemble above, I couldn’t help but paint my eyelids with hues from Urban Decay’s Naked 3 pallet! Step one: Begin by applying  your favorite eye primer to your eyelids or skip this step and spray your brush with All Nighter setting spray.

Step two: Brush your eyelids from the lash line to the crease with #7 (Dare).

Step three: After spraying your brush, again, with All Nighter, apply #8 (Stun) to the crease of your eyelids.

Step four: Give your brush one last squirt of All Nighter and apply #11 (50/50) to your brow bone.

Step five: Line your upper and lower lash line with the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (#2).

Step six: Apply Perversion mascara (#1) to your lashes.

Step seven: Dab your cheek-brush lightly onto the bronzer (#9) and then immediately onto the blush (#10) and  apply to your cheek bones.

Step eight: Coat your lips with lip gloss (#3).

For a night on the town, follow the steps above then re-apply a thicker coat of #8 to the crease, followed by heavier eyeliner (#2) and mascara (#1). Easy as can be!

While a number of other cosmetic companies manufacture a travel or sampler pack, most do not include all the essentials. Maybe the focus is on just eye shadows, or the lips, cheeks, and eyes.
