Age Gracefully in White Jeans

As I approach my third decade in life, I find myself avoiding white jeans more frequently. You can see EVERYTHING through them. The dimples (yep I said it) and all the other stuff you prefer NOT to highlight. But just because our bodies change with age doesn’t mean we have to alter our style. Today is my attempt to teach you how to wear white jeans with confidence! Hear me out.

The Cut

If you shy away from white jeans for the reasons above, closely consider the cut. For example, I avoid white skinny jeans like the plague. Instead, I gravitate towards: flare, bootcut, or straight leg jeans. The taper at the knee takes tension off of the thighs, leaving you with a smooth upper half. This tassel hem pair is the perfect hybrid of skinny and straight.

Length of Top

If you’re squeamish at the thought of white pants, the length of your top makes all the difference. Make sure it is long enough to cover your lady parts. I stick with tunics or tops with asymmetrical tail hems. The added back coverage makes me feel more comfortable in my skin (literally and figuratively)! Wear it Like You Own it

Finally, take this opportunity to pledge that you’ll never say, “I can’t pull that off” ever again! It literally makes me sad when I get comments from people saying, “I love your outfit but I could never pull that off.” You can pull off anything as long as you do it with confidence! Remember that the next time your shopping for white jeans!

If I won the lottery tomorrow, aside from designing my dream closet with built-in glam room, one of the first things I would do is hire a personal tailor. Being “blessed” with a shapely but petite frame, fitting clothes straight off of the rack can be a bit of a challenge. I do not remember the last time I did not need to hem a pair of pants! While I have gotten good at finding petite brands, or buying midi skirts to wear as maxis and so fourth, I think we can all agree that having a personal clothier would be very luxurious. A girl can dream, right?!

This butterfly print handkerchief blouse made my heart flutter! I am in love with all things chartreuse, but the peplum waist and darling print had me sold. Blue denim would also work, but I wanted to get another wear out of my white pair before retiring them for the winter. I chose a skinny leg to balance out the fit and flare silhouette, and polished off the look with a pink hat and matching lip. This shirt genuinely fits me like a glove. If I can have custom made clothing at an affordable price, so can you!

Off-the-Shoulder Fun

Take advantage of the summer months ahead and wear out your favorite white denim! There is something so crisp about a good pair of white flare jeans, that you can easily dress them up or down depending on the occasion. Pair them with a peplum top and head out for date night, or throw on a graphic tee for a casual day around the neighborhood.

My day is in between the two scenarios above, so I styled my white denim with a chambray off-the-shoulder flounce sleeve top. This shirt is under $50 from Zara and a great versatile piece to add to your wardrobe. I accessorized this look with a chunky yellow necklace, a leopard print clutch, and yellow patent leather pumps. Incorporating a pop of color into an outfit can be a game changer. Without the necklace and shoes, this outfit would have been acceptable, but a tad uninteresting. The yellow hue creates just enough fun and flair!

A note about these kicks…these shoes deserve a shoutout because they are so comfortable, available in a variety of colors and are priced just right. I have a hard time finding closed-toe shoes that fit my narrow foot, so when I orginally discovered the BCBG Paris Jaze Pump, I quickly purchased a pair in black and nude, with the yellow ones being my latest addition. I can promise you you will not find a better pair of pointy toe pumps for under $60, than these! What are you waiting for?!

Distressed Denim and a Pop of Neon

Distressed jeans are everywhere. From dark blue to stone wash, to white denim, if you are looking for an easy way to add some pizzazz to your outfit, slipping into a pair of destroyed jeans is an easy way to accomplish just that.

After finding the perfect pair of destroyed white skinnies at Current Clothing, it was time to test them out. If you cannot already tell, I am on a kick for all things neon. With the pants being so slim fit, I was looking for a top that would provide some front and back coverage. The yellow mesh sweater photographed below was the right cut and the knit composition is suitable for spring temperatures. Aside from a well matching top and bottom, I never consider an outfit complete without a statement piece. That is where these printed ankle strap sandals come into play! Featuring a muti-colored high-rise heel back, these shoes will effortlessly jazz up your attire by incorporating some great shades into your ensemble. To bring out some of those hues, I polished off the outfit with an irridescnet rhinestone necklace and my blue flash sunglasses.

Too hot where you live for long sleeves and bottoms? Swap out the pants for a pair of white cut off shorts.
