Crop Tops and Skirts

If you’re on the fence about adding a crop top to your wardrobe, try one out with high-waisted bottoms for your first wear. Just because it’s cropped, doesn’t mean you have to show midriff! When I came across this padded mermaid skirt I knew it was time to break one out. Great for an evening gala or date night with your significant other, replicate this outfit with a flirty a-line midi skirt from the one and only lulu*s.

When I laid eyes on this structured skirt at Marmalade Boutique, I had to have it…I’m not good at resisting unique statement pieces! I loved the fit and flare silhouette and the exposed zipper down the back. Hitting right above the belly button, I decided to pair this skirt with a solid crop top. I went with a plunging neckline to break things up a bit, but a boat neck or off-the-shoulder neckline would work as well. For the shoes, I went with a pair of white laser cut high-heel sandals, though a pair of black pumps or ankle strap sandals would of been adequate. I didn’t want to overdo it with accessories, so I simply wore a pair of silver glitzy earrings, and a rhinestone necklace and ring. To add a little edge, I carried my ombré faux crystal BCBG clutch – the perfect accessory for black and white or black and gray outfits.
