Napa Valley Valentine’s Day

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of experiencing a Napa Valley Valentine’s Day with some of our closest friends in the Bay Area. Wine country during the month of February is heavenly. From the weather to the lush terrain, there is no better month to visit if you ask me! We started off at Clos Du Val, our favorite winery in the valley. Not only is Clos Du Val dog-friendly, but there is always a place to sit and you can even enjoy a bottle of wine while you picnic. Believe it or not, these three things are hard to come by. After cooling down with some Sauvignon Blanc, we switched to a bottle of fruity Cabernet Sauvignon – equally as tasty. Moral of the story: whether you’re a lover of red or white, on a date with Fido or your boyfriend, fancy or cas, Clos Du Val will not disappoint.

With the temperature topping off at about 80 degrees, the fitted two-piece dress I had planned to wear was out of the question. Instead I decked out in a chic boho look that could have passed as Free People, yet it was a fraction of the cost. Cut off shorts are my favorite. They are sort of like the summer version of distressed denim. When I came across this floral embroidered pair at Forever 21, I scooped them up with our Hawaiian getaway in mind. For this occasion I styled them with a 3/4 length lace shirt topped with a blush fringe vest. Now do you understand the Free People reference?! Anyway, I polished off the look with gold jewelry, my go-to party shoes, and a glass of wine. No wonder I was so relaxed during our photoshoot!

From there we took Yountville Cross Road to the ever popular restaurant, Brix. This gem sits on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the mustard weed. We dined alfresco, on the back patio, and had a wonderful experience. Our server was very conscientious and knowledgeable about the menu. He even greeted our dog by name! We started out with tempura green beans and mushroom cigars – both delicious. For an entree I indulged in truffle roast chicken on top of spinach and mushroom risotto. It was as decadent as it sounds. It would not be Valentine’s Day without a sweet treat, so my hubby and I shared a fudge brownie with peanut butter ice cream for dessert. It was worth the extra calories.
