Brunch with the Baes: Recap + Video!

If you keep up with my blog on a regular basis, then you know Jonathan and I recently held a contest for our mutual followers to win a brunch on us, with us! Le Marais Bakery was so very generous to host us at their charming Casto District location. They boast a beautiful Farm Table behind the pastry counter that makes the perfect space for an intimate get-together. Read more about this San Francisco “institution” here. Leading up to the event, a few close friends individually asked me if I was nervous about picking a winner at random. I really wasn’t and here is why!

Ever since I was a little girl I was either put or putting myself in potentially intimidating/nerve wracking situations. I still remember introducing myself to my 3rd grade classmates, as Kelsey who had just moved to Connecticut from Puerto Rico. I did not even consider the possibility that I would not fit in, but I was DEFINITELY the only child of Latin descent in my grade at the time. After high school, I was determined to go to college in Miami. I did, and I lived with a randomly assigned roommate thousands of miles from home. There were very few students from the North East at FIU, but I wanted to immerse myself in the Spanish culture. It’s practically Latin America down there! Then after changing my major to Fashion Merchandising, I transferred to LSU. I did not know a soul in Baton Rouge, but I wanted a college football experience and I GOT IT. GEAUX TIGERS! It turned out to be a great decision because I met my very own Southern Gentleman, @realdrbae! Fast forward to 2013 and we moved from the South to the big city! Nope, didn’t know anyone in SF either but this time I had a wingman. So brunch with five “Insta-friends”…intimidating? Heck no!

Since carving out my own little slice of the internet, I’ve formed virtual friendships with my followers. That is why I prefer to call y’all my Insta-friends! If you take the time out of your day to “like” my photos or watch my stories, then we must have common interests. Compared to the situations described above where I had no foresight as to whether I would wither or flourish, I knew I would be in good company! Sure enough Jonathan and I had a BLAST with Lauren and her friends. They were all so friendly, easy to converse with, and appreciative for the opportunity. Major #SquadGoals! For your viewing pleasure, we documented our experience with this video. Enjoy!
