Fashion is cyclical and 90s styles are back. That does not exclude belt bags (aka fanny packs), hair clips, or biker shorts. We all have Kim K to thank for the latter. I’ll admit my initial reaction to this “spandex revolution” was meh, but I’ve come around and here is why. Biker shorts can be totally classy…the key is styling them gracefully. Below are my three tips to ensure just that.
Backside Coverage
If you are on the fence about biker shorts, consider pairing them with a high low top (as seen here). I get it. You are putting yourself “out there” (for lack of a better word!). A moderate amount of backside coverage will ease the nerves without taking away from the look and feel of the outfit.
Compression Fit
I LOVE these biker shorts because they fit like second skin. In fact, they are high waisted, and rather slimming. They help shape my figure into an hourglass appearance because of their hip hugging nature. Who can complain about that?! We all have insecurities. If your lower half is one of them, don’t let this trend deter you…rather gravitate towards a compression fit.
Pink and Pearls
Ok…maybe I did not go down this exact route but the concept is the same! When your outfit is borderline racy (it probably isn’t but just in case) add feminine details. I typically accomplish this by incorporating pink and pearls into my ensembles. Today, however, I paired my biker shorts with a high low lavender blouse and matching jewel drop earrings. To me, this outfit exudes femininity. See how I did that?! Now it’s your turn!
