Finding a flattering pencil skirt when you are only five feet tall can be a bit of a challenge. You do not want the skirt to “cut off” your legs at an awkward spot – they are already short enough. This is particularly important to keep in mind when you are styling a below-the-knee length garment. It only took me a decade to find a solution to this problem, but better late than never. Let’s talk MESH! Who would have thought that a mesh panel would be our (short legged folks’) saving grace?! I sure didn’t before trying on this faux leather mesh-paneled skirt. The peek-a-boo panel prevents your legs from appearing cut off, all while creating an edgy look and feel. On the other hand, you do not want your mesh to come off as tacky…style it with caution. I sweetened up the look with a black and white tie-neck blouse – the bow adds a touch of sophistication. Polishing off the look with dainty pearl jewelry and a classic Gucci purse, helped me further balance out the playful see-through detail. After spending a week in New England and experiencing true fall weather, I was itching to get into full fall garb upon my return to San Francisco! This sleeveless sweater is the perfect item to add to your autumn attire if you reside in a moderate climate, like SF. I’ve been yearning for a sleeveless sweater as I’m a big fan of sleeveless outerwear in general. When I came across this one from Forever 21, I knew it would be a smart purchase. Not only is camel the perfect fall hue, but the mock neck is suitable for the weather here. The side slits add an interesting touch and the length is great for leggings or skinny jeans. I paired this piece with burgundy skinny jeans from Current Clothing (most comfortable pants ever) and added a bit of flair with my leopard print booties. I accessorized lightly with a long fringe statement necklace and a brushed gold bracelet. Check back this week for outfit ideas featuring more of the latest fall trends! Lace up shoes are all the rage. Whether they are in the form of a pump, sandal, or boot, they’re HOT! Below are a few pairs currently on my wish list. Stuart Weitzman’s Highstrung Lace-Up High Heel Boots have it all! Featuring a Victorian era design, these over the knee beauts will pair nicely with coated denim or mini dresses. If they’re anything like SW’s All Legs Boots, then they are suitable for all day wear. Purchase a pair here. Jeffrey Campbell’s Brielle Lace-Up Pumps in red are the perfect amount of steamy. A modern take on the classic pointy toe pump, these lookers will effortlessly dress up your boyfriend jeans ensemble. Also available in black and tan, there’s no good reason to resist a pair. Order them here. The New and Noteworthy Tan Lace-Up Heels are my favorite. Not only will they match with everything under the sun, but they’ll instantly add flair to your evening attire. Similar to a knee-high gladiator, these kicks feature a back zipper closure and adjustable laces. Stun the crowd with a high slit maxi and these racy things. Shop here. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 95th annual Far Hills Race Meeting. This event is regarded as a premier steeplechasing showcase across the Tri-state area. Although I spent most of my youth in CT, it never worked out for me to attend. Well, 2015 was my year and it was quite the experience. The tailgating is festive and the races are entertaining, but the fashion is fabulous! It is all about the outfit. Typically preppy with an equestrian flair, just look up #farhillsracefashion on Instagram and you’ll see what I mean. This city gal took the country in stride with a bohemian-inspired look! Knowing it would be chilly, I took advantage of the occasion to rock some faux fur. I paired my brown faux fur vest with high-waisted paisley pants from h&m – mixing prints for the second time this week. Although pictured with a long sleeve knit top, on race day, I wore a cropped sweater for added warmth. I polished off the look with black and brown rhinestone earrings, tassel booties, and an obligatory floppy hat. Shop this Post: Pants | Sweater (sale alert) | Vest | Booties Are you […]
There is something so fun about mixing prints…and it is even more fun when it involves fabulous fall hues! When I came across this retro floral top at my local H&M, I had to have it. Featuring three quarter length sleeves and a darling pleated back, this top is the perfect addition to your autumn attire. Sticking with the same color palette, I paired this piece with olive Girlfriend Jeans from Gap and a pumpkin wristlet. I completed the look with green bangles and leopard print wedge booties. Contrasting prints is one of the easiest ways to take your outfit to the next level – just work around one dominant color. For example, when I look at this floral pattern, my eye is immediately drawn to the orange hues. I knew the leopard shoes would work, because they are in the same orangey-brown color family.
