The Return of the Denim Skirt

It’s really happening. Those jean skirts you wore a decade ago are making a comeback. If you happen to have one tucked away in a storage container, bring that baby out of retirement. According to more than one reliable source, denim skirts are the new it thing!     According to Nancy Rooney, owner and buyer of Current Clothing, denim skirts were all over fashion market. Although I could hardly believe it when I got the “what’s trending report,” these jean bottoms really are popping up in all shapes and colors. While out and about over the weekend, I came across minis and midis, distressed and stonewashed, fitted and a-line jean skirts. Easy to style for year-round wear, I jumped at the chance to wear my button-front denim skirt from H&M, with a lightweight top, while the temperature remained moderate in San Francisco. Keeping it casual this time around, I tucked in a white shirt and rocked my go-to fringe booties. I accessorized the look with a brown hat, stone necklace, and fabulous flower earrings.   Just like your favorite pair of jean pants, think of all the different ways you could wear a jean skirt. Add one to your […]

Dress Down Fri-Yay

There is no better day in the week to kick back and dress down than Friday. If you do it the KK and GG way, then it means jeans, a cute top, and heels. I am not a fan of flats if you have not already noticed. With the heatwave finally dissipating in San Francisco, it seemed appropriate to showcase a dress down Fri-Yay look.     Leopard is hot for fall! Whether it is in the form of accessories, shoes, or apparel, find a way to work this flirty print into your wardrobe. For a laid back Friday night, I paired my leopard pumps with distressed denim – another trend you must roll with this season! Taking the animal print frenzy one step further, I toted around a matching clutch purse. Leopard on leopard only works if it’s an exact match. Luckily mine were. To complete the look, I styled a gorgeous abstract print blouse with a gold beaded necklace. Mixing prints instantly adds oomph to your ensemble, and I love how it did just that for me. This outfit would not have been as interesting with a solid black top, or with solid black shoes. Catch my drift?! […]

Cut it Out Suede Dress

Assuming that you pay attention to what is trending in the fashion industry, then you’ve probably noticed a plethora of cutout tops and dresses filling the racks at your favorite boutiques and stores. While it is important to keep up with today’s fashions, it is just as important to stay true to your own personal style. If you’ve shied away from cutout garments in the past, then this All The Rage Suede Dress is the perfect starter piece for you.     Not too racy, not too tight, this a-line suede dress allows you to shake what your mama gave ya with some class and sass! Typically not a fan of “peekaboo” dresses, but The Red Dress Boutique nailed it with this one. The cutouts synch in at all the right spots – truly taking this dress from good to great. The mocha color is another fabulous fall hue and matches with brown or black accents. Since we are experiencing a heat wave in San Francisco, I paired this dress with sandals. I went with a strappy wedge to play off of the strappy cutout details. For a bit of flair, I wore gold statement earrings and a matching chunky […]

Jacquard Skirt

Let’s face it – it’s time to start collecting fall apparel. Already into the second week of September, those crisp autumn mornings will be here before you know it. But it doesn’t mean stocking up on heavy sweaters and long pants just yet. Instead, think transitional pieces, like this jacquard skirt.     With house guests arriving over the weekend, my goal was to look polished and chic. This bright printed skirt helped me accomplish just that. Although I kept it simple with a black off the shoulder top and gray sandals, I love how you can style this piece so many different ways. Swap out the short sleeve top for a long sleeve turtleneck and when the temperatures begin to drop, throw on black stockings and high heel booties. And when you hit the San Francisco streets on a breezy day, tame your mane with a black wool hat – exactly what I did Saturday afternoon. I accessorized lightly with a pearl collar necklace with matching ear jackets and completed the look with a taupe purse and gold bangles.   Now that you see how easy it is to incorporate a skirt into your fall attire, will you be […]
