Wishlist Wednesday: Mondo Sunglass Collection

Designed exclusively for See eyeglass stores, I would like to introduce you to the “Mondo” collection. If you’re wondering why this name sounds familiar, it is because you watched the first season of Lifetime’s Project Runway All-Stars, where Mondo Guerra was crowned the winner. This vintage-inspired eye-wear is crafted out of Italian Acetate and is priced at a very reasonable rate. For only $149 own a pair of these stylish shades.   The Tabitha Sun are comprised of a round over-sized frame. Perfect for the beginner fashionista. Not too funky, but just enough pizzaz to add some flare to your sunglass wardrobe. These frames are available in: Tokyo Tortoise (see below), Purple Haze, Marine Static, and Black.     The Montes Sun cateye specs are for the girl who wants to stand out in a crowd. The retro design features a large surface area, so whether you step out in Black Glitter (see below), Toffee Tortoise, Denim Havana or Black frames, you will be making a statement.     The JoJo Sun is one word: avant-garde. Mondo’s signature hip piece offers an exaggerated boxy shape, matte bridge and two-tone design. These 1960’s inspired sunnies come in: Calico Static (see below), […]

Tuesday Shoesday

In honor of Tuesday Shoesday, I couldn’t help but share some of the shoes that I may or may not already own that may or may not pop up on KK and GG in the very near future! With Spring just around the corner, stores are stocking up on pastels and metallics are becoming a hit. Whether it’s tops, bottoms, or lightweight jackets, chances are they’re available in every Easter egg tone imaginable.   Mules have made a comeback. I am particularly enamored with the “Propaganda 2” in pink. It could pass for a neutral and the light brown heel matches with both black and chocolate brown garments. Everyone could use a versatile shoe like these beauts.     This lace up shootie is like the icing on the cake. Look like a straight up diva in an otherwise conservative outfit with the addition of these hot kicks. Featuring gold hardware on the zipper, pair this shoe with your favorite gold jewels.     You know I cannot say enough about these fringe rain boots, and I didn’t think they could get any better until I discovered the green and tourmaline pair last night. Talk about adding some color to […]

Cloudy with a Chance of Showers

There is nothing worse than a “chance of rain” on one of those days when your schedule is jam packed with errands to run. Who wants to hit the streets when it is drizzling on and off?! I know I don’t! Well, when it’s out of your hands, and the weather changes on a dime, at the very least dress smartly! Although foul weather gear can be pricey, think of it as an investment. Once you have it, it’ll last you a few years.   Begin with a pair of chic rain boots. In the ensemble below, I’m rocking my fringe Hunter boots. Out of the entire collection, I chose these because they don’t scream rain boots – they can pass for leather. Plus, the fringe detail is a mixture of black and blue making them suitable for black or blue pants. This time, I paired my kicks with black “wet leggings” and a long khaki cardigan – stormy weather isn’t an excuse to sacrifice style!     Secondly, when the sky is threatening, I always wear a scarf. It can double as a hood or a shawl. But if you’re really worried about your luscious locks, carry a hat […]

Go-to Lip Lacquers

There is no better way to start a fun filled weekend than with some good ole beauty advice! So that is what I am here to provide you with. Now that I have this handy dandy lipstick display, courtesy of a very special friend, it is easier than ever to find my go-to lip lacquers when it’s time to paint my pout.     I firmly believe the best way too apply lipstick is by first moisturizing your lips with some balm. You cannot go wrong with some of Smith’s Rosebud chap-stick.   Urban Decay’s “Sesso” ultra moisturizing lipgloss, included in the Naked on the Run palett. This gloss is great for everyday use as it is very neutral and provides just the right amount of shine.   Bite Beauty’s cream lipstick in “Rosewood” is perfect when you’re not in the mood for bright hues but don’t dare to go bare! Just as the name suggests, it’s pinky brown.   Sephora’s cream lip stain in “Always Red” is a big hit in my eyes. For $13 a pop, when they say stain, they mean it. Lather up with this product before your evening and wake up with colorful lips   […]

Navajo Jewelry at its Finest

Nestled in Oak Creek Canyon, stands Garland’s Indian Jewelry – one of the finest collections of Native American jewelery, art, and pottery. Family run since 1985, this fine establishment services both Sedona natives and world-wide tourists alike. Before visiting this “museum” of wearable art, the first thing that came to mind when I heard the words “Navajo jewelry” were silver and turquoise. Let me tell you, it is so much more than that and some of my favorite pieces were actually crafted out of 14 karat gold! From bola ties, to belt buckles, to Navajo pearls, to squash blossoms, each have a special meaning and are worn with a purpose. No need to worry. Dan and the lovely Tricia will educate you on all of the jewels and symbolism behind them.   My very educational visit began with a look at the work of a spectacular artist, Ric Charlie. Ric Charlie’s designs stand out from more traditional Southwestern jewelry because of the color and intricate texture. Charlie accomplishes this with tufa casting (carving into stone then pouring gold into the pattern). Often polishing off his designs with diamonds and semiprecious stones, these works of art are the most impressive I’ve […]
