As the year comes to an end, it is common practice to reflect back on the good, the bad, and the ugly. And for a professional fashionista, there is no exception. In fact, I find it very fascinating to study my blog’s analytics. Sometimes you think everyone is going to hate an outfit but the page views say the opposite. Faux Pearl Dress – Behind the Scenes with Kelsey Kaplan Fashion

These photos make me laugh. Not because I do not like them or anything, but because I look so put together. The truth is, taking blog pictures is not so glamorous. Minutes before we shot this look, I was racing down the embarcadero (in four inch heels) while my friend assistant was tying a satin bow around my wilting bouquet of flowers. Meanwhile, my car closet on wheels was parked in a passenger loading zone. I.e., you only have 30 minutes before you get the “boot” – literally! Picture this: me modeling, my hair flying, my #InstagramFriend capturing footage for Insta stories, all while keeping an eye on the photographer’s equipment and the time. Cold Weather Holiday Attire: Emerald Velvet Top

In California, you can get away with wearing a dress all year round. But it’s not 60 degrees and sunny everywhere else during the month of December. The North East can be bone chilling during the winter and that is where I am jet setting off to later this week. But even if the weather does not cooperate, the fashion show must go on! Today it is my attempt to teach you how to style your holiday attire for the cold weather. Let’s begin with this emerald velvet top. Velvet First things first: gravitate towards toasty fabrics. What I mean is, save the cutout garments for the spring, and dress in corduroy, wool, or velvet instead. These materials will act as powerful insulators against the chill. Does this outfit look familiar? Well, it should because it closely resembles this ensemble I wore during New York Fashion Week! To this day I am still finding strands of tinsel around my house. I kid you not! Anyway, now that the holiday season is upon us, so are all of the parties. Today I present you with the December version of a look that literally stopped traffic in NYC. Hear me out! The shaggy jacket is the new blazer. Shocking, I know, but it’s the truth! But if you stop and think about how you normally wear a blazer, it makes a lot of sense.
