You can never be “too old” to dress up for Halloween! It’s a carefree way to celebrate the holiday and you do not have to spend an arm and a leg to do it. Nor do you have to dress in revealing clothing….today is my attempt to teach you how to go from the cubicle to the costume party in the most tasteful way possible. Get your notepad out!     Black on Black Black is so versatile whether or not you have a costume party to attend. For the purpose of this post, however, let’s just call it the most Halloween-Friendly color! I say that because this exact top and skirt could be worn for a witch, a cat, a bunny, or even a fox costume.     Textured Stockings Textured stockings will effortlessly add some spice to your ensemble. Plus, they are an easy item to pack in your purse for “after hours.” Whether you choose lace, or fishnet tights, you’ll be ready to go from the cubicle to the costume party with this frilly addition. Museum of Ice Cream San Francisco

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Museum of Ice Cream. It was a real-life Charlie and the Chocolate Factory experience – golden tickets and all. No the tickets are not actually gold-plated, rather they’re so desired that they might as well be. In fact, they sold out before the doors even opened to visitors! If you were lucky enough to score a ticket, don’t be surprised that there will be more tasting than learning involved. Your sweet tooth will thank you from the moment you enter the establishment.     The Experience This one-of-a-kind museum exhibit features over 10 brilliant rooms and they’re all instagram-able. I can assure you that you’ve never seen anything “sweeter!” From carnival games, life-size gummy bears, floor to ceiling Pop Rocks, to a swimming pool full of sprinkles, here you will live your best “big kid in a candy shop” moment! Enjoy samples from Salt & Straw (yay no line), glitter coated cotton candy, and unicorn ice cream (that’s actually a thing) as you make your way through Candy Land.     The Outfit Now that you know what to expect during a visit to the Museum of Ice Cream, it is […]

Cropped Jeans: The Petite Girl’s Favorite Fashion Hack

Being petite and being creative go hand in hand. Not necessarily in an artsy fashion…rather in a resourceful fashion. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve used double-side tape for a quick hem job, or temporarily shortened the straps on a cami with safety pins. Moral of the story: a petite girl has gotta do what a petite girl has gotta do. While it seems SO obvious that cropped pants would solve the length issue for people like me, the reality of it is that cropped pants simply did not exist in the past. Well, crying over spilled milk is not going to get us anywhere. Today I’m offering you a solution to your #shortpeopleproblems. Buy yourself cropped jeans, and buy yourself a lot of ’em!     Today we showcase cropped flare jeans from Charlotte Russe. They are just as functional as they are cute. Featuring a mid-rise waist and stretch fabric design, these cropped jeans are suitable for breakfast or happy hour. I know I am not the only woman who sometimes “fluffs up” her jeans in the dryer mid-wear. Well, I am happy to report that they did not stretch out or bag at the knees […]

Fall Flavor: Burgundy Faux Leather Shorts

What is your favorite fall hue? Mine is burgundy or any variation of it. For starters, it is not prejudice! It looks good on every complexion. Second of all, it matches with both brown and black and for that I consider it a neutral. You can never work enough of THOSE into your wardrobe. I am not sure about the weather where you live, but September and October are considered the summer months in San Francisco. With temperatures in the mid 70’s during the day, boots and sweaters are not an option. So, if you too live in the Bay Area or anywhere else with a late fall, here is a good way to style fall-like clothes without overheating! Hint hint…burgundy faux leather shorts.     The colors I already gave it away that burgundy (bordeaux) is my favorite autumn hue but in all honestly, I am a fan of them all. Particularly mustard and olive tones. I am starting to realize that my fav colors all have one thing in common: they’re named after food items. Ha! That is very fitting. Anyway, if it is too warm to layer up in sweaters and scarves, incorporate the quintessential fall color […]

Diversify your Closet with the Right Autumn Attire

What is the one item that your closet is lacking? Are you overflowing with LBDs but short on the skirt supply? To me, a well-versed wardrobe is just as important as a well-balanced diet. You want to be ready for whatever life throws at you. Slowly but surely I have been adding to my collection of tops. In fact, every time I visit my favorite San Francisco boutique, I beg the girls to make me leave with a basic shirt. So far so good. As we all get ready to pack away our warm weather garb in preparation for autumn attire, here are a few tips to keep your closet diverse.     Tops for Every Occasion I fell into the ruffle rut. For a while there, every single top I purchased was adorned with ruffles. Ruffles are great but they do not match with everything. Categorize your tops into three categories: statement, basic with a twist, and casual. When you start stacking one category, shift your efforts to another. In the example above, too many of the tops I was buying fell under “statement.” I am currently building my “casual” collection. Catch my drift?!     Jackets and Toppers […]
