Stonewash Jeans for the Winter Months

According to the fashion industry it is already the spring. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but it does not feel like springtime just yet! Regardless of the weather, retailers nationwide are rolling out their resort wear collections. Today it is my goal to teach you how to mix spring-like styles into your winter wardrobe, particularly stonewash jeans. Hear me out.     One of the easiest ways to “winter up” a look is to incorporate black. Whether it is in the form of a statement piece or an accent piece, it’ll darken up the mood of the ensemble. For example, white denim with black booties. Or, a blush dress with black stockings. If black is not your jam, consider other dark hues like red or navy. But color isn’t the only way to season-proof an outfit. Texture can have the same affect. Do you remember the burgundy romper from a couple of weeks ago? The fur vest and suede boots were all that it needed.     Today we feature, stonewash jeans commonly referred to as, “summer jeans.” With two key items, a blazer and printed tights, I will transform them into winter wearables. A classic blazer is suitable for wear […]

Disco Fur Dress hot for Valentine’s Day

Simply put, Nasty Gal has got it goin’ on! Just about everything in their spring collection is Wish List Wednesday worthy, but today I am focusing in on this disco fur dress! Hear me out.   The Disco Fur Dress This dress is dreamy. I love how they pieced together so many elements to create one happy number. At first glance, it screams retro. Probably because of the shift silhouette. But the more you look at it, the more you will notice. Check out the dainty mandarin collar and the coordinating oriental pattern. My favorite details are the faux fur cuffs. As if pointing that out was really necessary. The pale pink and sunny yellow perfectly balance one another out.     The Shoes Speaking of pale pink…you could definitely rock a pink pair with this flirty piece, but I am partial to a nude heel. Nude shoes have the ability to elongate the appearance of your legs. Who doesn’t want that?! These patent leather sock boots are super trendy and remind me of old timey go-go boots. Considering I refer to this garment as a “disco fur dress,” these funky boots fit into the ensemble nicely.     The […]

Sheer Elegance: A Night at the “Jewseum”

The Jewseum Jonathan and I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Cary Leibowitz exhibit Wednesday night at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. The “ Jewseum ” (I am not being derogatory) sure knows how to throw a party. After indulging in hot dogs and brews, we made our way into the auditorium for a drag show (I kid you not!) followed by more knosh. I had an epiphany. It is so much fun eating hot dogs when someone else dresses them for you! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the exhibit, admiring the artist’s use of color and quirky humor. If you watch my Instagram stories, then you were lucky enough to catch a glimpse inside of the gallery. But if you didn’t, no worries. The exhibit is open until June 25th – check it out!     Do these Pants Make me Look Jewish? The second I accept an iCal invite, my mind races with outfit ideas. The last time I wore palazzo pants I dressed them for a Great Gatsby themed party. Today I’m demonstrating how to style them with a sheer black top appropriate for a night at the Jewseum. There is a big difference […]

LBD for Valentine’s Day

I cannot believe it is already the 25th of January. I guess it is true that time flies when you’re having fun! Today’s wishlist features another ensemble perfect for Valentine’s Day…but don’t be surprised if you see me wear it during New York Fashion Week, first.   The Dress As you can probably imagine, fashionistas take the statement “dress to impress” to a whole new level during NYFW. Luckily, you can always rely on Nasty Gal when you’re in the market for a spicy statement piece. This dress will definitely have heads turnin’ whether you’re in the Big Apple or out with your sweetie for V-Day. A fun take on the traditional LBD, the black sheer design is simply chic and the magenta floral embroidery adds a unique touch. But can we talk about the shoulder pads?! Talk about a blast from the past!     The Shoes To my advantage, I already own a pair of pearl stunners that would look great with this dress. Check out how I styled them for my Birthday here. However, velvet booties would create a visually appealing contrast and I have my eye on this pair. They are 50 % off – hooray! If […]

Romper Weather: There Ain’t No Such Thing

“Romper weather” is a made up thing. Over the last few years, onesies have grown in popularity because they are season-proof. Now that’s the type of versatility anyone and everyone should appreciate! Below is my attempt to teach you how to shop for a romper according to the time of the year.     When you shop for an adult playsuit during the winter, look for sleeves. They don’t need to be full length, but at least 3/4 length is a good idea. During the spring, gravitate towards shorter sleeves and light weight fabrics. The summer months are the most conducive to “romp” around. As a result, the options are endless. Consider sleeveless, open-back, and colorful designs. Finally, during the fall, choose boot-friendly styles and go back to 3/4 length sleeves.     Today we feature a bell sleeve romper from Current Clothing. I will wear this little number all year round. Burgundy, a hybrid of red and brown, is a neutral in my book. Whether you pair it with black or brown accents, it looks fabulous. Thanks to the “cold front” (lame!) in San Francisco, I knew a fur vest would keep me warm. Bare legs were not an […]
