2017 Golden Globes: Best Dressed List

It is that time of the year. Actors and actresses strut the red carpet in dream-worthy suits and gowns and we all sit around and watch. Well, at least that is what I do! Fun Fact: My mom went to high school with Meryl Streep in Bernardsville, NJ. Even back then she starred in all of the school plays! Anyway, below is my 2017 Golden Globes best dressed list.   Mandy Moore slays in a navy blue dress by Naeem Khan. The plunging neckline requires the right “assets” and those she was blessed with. The cape sleeves add just enough drama to an otherwise elegant and chic sweeping gown.     It is safe to say that Sophia Vergara and I have a similar taste in fashion. It’s probably the Latina blood…she always looks confident and sexy in her hip hugging ensembles. This stunner by Zuhair Murad is jaw dropping good. From the cold shoulder design to the peekaboo cutouts one word comes to mind: HOT!     Reese Witherspoon is the epitome of classic beauty. She rocked the carpet in a canary yellow Versace dress. This color can be hard to wear but it’s heavenly against her porcelain skin. […]

Not your Average Cable Knit Sweater

Does the sweater weather have you down? I know a good way to cheer you back up! Stock up on toasty layering pieces that will get you through the remaining cold months and kick those winter blues to the curb. This cable knit sweater from Chicwish will give you a reason to smile! I cannot speak for you, but I am genuinely happier when I like my outfit…     My wardrobe consists of statement pieces and more statement pieces. Throwing something on to “bop around” in can be quite a challenge. When I laid eyes on this ruffle sleeve cable knit sweater, I knew I would put it to good use. This winter out of the last three has definitely been the coldest. Long sleeves and lightweight jackets are not going to cut it. An item like this is stylish on its own, but even better with a vest or under your go-to parka. You be the judge.     Colored denim is one of last year’s trends that I plan to keep around. With jeans available for purchase in nearly every color of the rainbow, it is sort of inexcusable to wear a boring outfit these days. I […]

New Year Resolutions – 2017

Today’s edition of Wish List Wednesday is different from those in the past. Rather than novelty items I’m currently coveting, I have compiled a list of a few that will help me accomplish my New Year Resolutions. Hear me out!   Start the day with a checklist “You’ll never accomplish the results you want until you are willing to do what you don’t necessarily want to do.” There is a difference between a to-do list in your head, and a tangible one you can hold. By writing out the tasks I wish to accomplish daily, I will hold myself accountable. This notepad would look pretty on my desk.     Drink more water They say, “drink eight glasses of water a day,” but how many of us actually do? I sure don’t! It is my goal to drink at least five cups a day starting today. Hydration is so important for the upkeep of our skin, but more importantly for our brains! Maybe a new water bottle will incentivize me to drink up.     Go to bed by 11:30 during the work week Going to bed “early” results in getting up early. This is a win win for many […]

Fit and Flare Skirt + Pearl Embellished Shoes

It’s my Birthday I can wear what I want to…! Technically the big day is tomorrow, but I’m wearing this fit and flare skirt with pearl embellished shoes. We have dinner reservations at a new restaurant (new to us) in the Mission. I’ll be sure to review it on Instagram stories.     Over the last five years, fit and flare garments have become consumer favorites. Fashionistas of all shapes and sizes are wearing this shape. Almost every bride in my peer group dresses in a “mermaid” style gown and I do not blame them for doing so. There is nothing sexier than a hip hugging silhouette!     This fit and flare skirt is only $42 at Chicwish and available in blue or burgundy. Dress it with a button-down blouse for a sophisticated look, or pair it with a bodysuit for a night on the town. I chose the latter and spiced things up with a velvet and lace bodysuit. I completed the look with sheer tights and my favorite pearl accents.     Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life. If you don’t ‘buy it”, then you probably do not own a pair […]

Nine to Five Chic in a Suede Pencil Skirt

If you’re confined to the “cube life” you might as well look damn good while you’re in there. It’s easy to get into the black on black “rut” during the work week. But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring (as seen here). Stock up on basics with a twist, like this black pencil skirt, and you’ll thank me later. Here is how to look nine to five chic, in a killer black ensemble.     Textures Mixing texture goes a long way. If you’re sold on monochromatic looks this is one of the easiest ways to shake up your style. In the featured look I paired a faux suede pencil skirt with a ribbed fitted top. The contrasting fabrics stimulate the eye more than matching fabrics.     Angles It’s all about the angle. Whether you’re taking photos and following the “rule of thirds,” or you’re piecing together a good looking outfit, the importance of angles prevails! Think about it, a diagonal line is a lot more interesting than a straight line. I first dressed this skirt with a turtleneck. After looking in the mirror I decided it did nothing for the asymmetrical hemline. Just like that, a […]
