Your New Favorite Shift Dress

No matter how many ensembles I piece together, every season I have a uniform. What I mean by that is that there is always one I repeat, over and over again. Can you relate?! I have a funny feeling this multicolor shift dress will become my 2016 summer uniform. Outfit waste is no bueno. In fact, I encourage re-weariing your favorite ensembles. Just remember to switch things up a tad each time. The easiest way to accomplish this, when you are working with a shift dress, is to top it with something different and change the shoes accordingly. To create a dramatic look, consider topping your dress with a cape and throw on a pair or pumps or strappy sandals. Five years ago cutout and mesh garments were considered tacky. In 2016, however, it is quite the opposite. As we make our way into the warm weather months, the more cutout and mesh you can work into your wardrobe, the better! This mainstream trend is popping up in many forms including but not limited to: swimwear, activewear, and daytime wear. If you have been avoiding this trend, today I am sharing with you a few tips and tricks to keep your mesh garments looking just as classy as you are! The Length When you are working with a mesh dress or skirt, keep the length below the knee. While I have nothing against mini skirts and dresses, save those pieces for the beach. For a ladylike ensemble, a midi length garment is always the way to go. In the featured outfit, this shorts/skirt hybrid is appropriate for teatime because of the length. Circle Skirt Fit for a Princess

If you ever wondered what is feels like to be a pretty pretty princess, get yourself a circle skirt, find a rose garden, and POOF! Just like that you’re regal as ever! The High Waist Pleated Flare Skirt from Romwe is as princessy as they come. The soft lavender hue features a gorgeous metallic sheen, so whether you adorn yourself with a gold or silver crown, you will not take away from this beauty. You probably already got the memo that full skirts are hot for spring. Last month I styled a black one, appropriate for a work time affair, but today it is all about pastels. Whether you have a ladies luncheon, or baby shower coming up, this little number or something similar would be absolutely perfect. Multicolor Overalls

Overalls…they’re baaack! In the fashion world, what goes around comes around, and for whatever reason, this statement is truer than ever this 2016 spring season. From bell sleeves, wide leg pants, to overalls, our favorite vintage styles are back “in” and I’m lovin’ it. I am the first to admit that there are many items in life that I avoid wearing so that I am not mistaken for a 14 year old. Some people say this is a good problem to have, but there are times when it can become a bit cumbersome. Like when the TSA agent in Maui, a couple of months ago, asked me if I was old enough to travel alone! Yep, true story. Anyway, overalls have typically been on that list, however, it turns out when styled correctly, they can have the opposite effect. It is all about the under shirt and the shoes! If you pair your overalls with a t-shirt and Keds, you’re asking for questions. Instead, style your overalls with a top that you would not find in the kid’s section. Cinco de Mayo attire and food.

It is a good day in the Kaplan household because it is Cinco de Mayo, and we LOVE Mexican food. If you follow me on Instagram, than you already caught a glimpse of my fiesta attire. It would not be a party without a proper outfit. I took advantage of the occasion to rock another off the shoulder shirt. This trend is not going anywhere so now is the time to stock up on these hot items. Going for an easy and chic vibe, I styled this top with distressed denim and a straw clutch from Jest Jewels that I am absolutely smitten over (no pun intended). Polishing off the look with contrasting yellow earrings, and cutout sandals, this ensemble is easy to replicate and great for a casual springtime soirée. After living in Louisiana for half a decade I became a food snob. “The Boot” is highly regarded for its seafood and cajun cuisine, but the truth is, all food prepared there is absolutely divine.
