It’s a good week in the life of a fashionista. Shopbop and Bloomingdales‘ friends and family sales have officially begun, and there is no better time to give your closet a mini makeover than right now. Hop to it – styles are going fast and you know what they say, “buy or cry.” With a 25% discount on regular and sale price items, there is something for everyone at every budget. Below are a few items on my wish list. I’ve been eyeing this romper for about a month now. Let’s face it, just about everything J.O.A. makes is worth swooning over. The floral print epitomizes the spring season and the cutout draped detail is flirty and fun. Whether you’re out to lunch with girlfriends, or on vacation in the tropics, this little number will not disappoint. What good is a fabulous romper without an equally fabulous pair of shoes to accompany it?! Take one look at the Touch The Sky Wrap Clogs, by Free People, and tell me heads will not be turnin’ left and right! These shoes take the traditional platform sandal to a whole new level, and at 25% percent off, it is very […]
Yesterday was a big day in the life of a professional shop-a-holic. Spring cleaning came to a close and my closet shelves have never looked so tidy…let’s see how long that lasts! Anyway, among the high-waisted shorts, fringe vests, and lace-up sandals, I thought of a few more items to add to your Spring “it” list, beginning with a full skirt. I used to think full skirts were cute, but not for me. I had the same opinion about midi length skirts until I met the perfect pink dress last year. Anyway, after trying a black one on during my Louisiana tour, I have a new found appreciation for them. There are a couple of factors to consider before committing to a circle skirt. The first being the color. If you have a baby shower or ladies luncheon on the calendar, I suggest a floral or pastel – something cheery. If you have a business gathering to attend, stick to basic black. Speaking of business, when it’s the right length, a full skirt is acceptable work attire. Go for a midi length and you will get two for the price of one! I styled […]
I have a love/hate relationship with spring cleaning. It is so refreshing to walk into a well-organized closet, yet the act of folding clothes is mind numbing. While you get ready to pack away your heavy sweaters and over the knee boots, here are a few items you should add to your spring “it” list: high-waisted shorts, fringe vests, lace-up shoes, and floppy hats. High-waisted shorts are a great versatile item to have on hand. You can wear them with crop tops or with your go-to blouses, and they pair nicely with jean jackets, blazers, and vests. Depending on the material or pattern, you can get away with wearing them during the day or night, with stockings or bare legs. In the featured outfit I styled this striped pair for daytime wear. The options are endless when you are working with a fringe vest. You may recall this Valentine’s Day look. Think of a vest as the spring version of a blazer – it’ll add just enough pop to a basic ensemble. This boho version is fabulous, and the perfect topper for your high-waisted shorts. Choose a “neutral” and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how often you […]
I lived in Louisiana for five years and my husband was born and raised there. It is safe to say I have hit almost all of the touristy spots around the “boot” during my life as a Louisianan. For whatever reason, however, I never toured Avery Island, home to the world’s most renowned hot sauce, TABASCO®! That’s right, the fiery red topping you can always count on to give your food a kick is made, bottled, and shipped to over 180 countries worldwide on this very island. But there is more to Avery Island than the TABASCO® factory…a tour of Jungle Gardens is a MUST! The 170 acre semitropical landscape exemplifies nature at its finest. Ride along the bayou admiring the Spanish Moss, bamboo, and live alligators. Stop and enjoy the blooming Azaleas, then make your way up the path to a shrine, housing an ancient Buddha. A setting like this calls for one thing: Blog Pics! How does a California girl dress for a day in the swamp? In lightweight clothing, of course! Living in San Francisco, for the past three years, has turned me into a fair weather snob. It is safe to say […]
As promised, I will be showcasing my festival favorites over the next several weeks. In case you missed round one, click here before reading on. If you’re a devoted Instagram user, then you’ve probably noticed all of your favorite fashionistas adorned in beautiful tassel handbags. Not just any tassel handbag, rather those out of Rebecca Minkoff’s Sofia collection. The backpack version is the perfect storage option for your festival must-haves, and you’ll free up your hands carrying it on your back. Just because the live music stopped, doesn’t mean the dance party has to! Keep the fun going with the Beach Sounds Radio. Flip the on switch to tune in to the radio, or open it up and use as a set of portable speakers. Compatible with most handheld MP3 players and phones, this noise machine is available in coral, teal, and blue, making it a fabulous accessory to nearly any ensemble. I do not splurge often on designer shoes, but these beauts make it very tempting to do so. Leave it to Stuart Weitzman to perfect the oxford/flatform hybrid with The Kent Oxford! These kicks will take your festival fashions to the next level […]
