Full Skirt for Spring

Yesterday was a big day in the life of a professional shop-a-holic. Spring cleaning came to a close and my closet shelves have never looked so tidy…let’s see how long that lasts! Anyway, among the high-waisted shorts, fringe vests, and lace-up sandals, I thought of a few more items to add to your Spring “it” list, beginning with a full skirt. I used to think full skirts were cute, but not for me. I had the same opinion about midi length skirts until I met the perfect pink dress last year. Anyway, after trying a black one on during my Louisiana tour, I have a new found appreciation for them. There are a couple of factors to consider before committing to a circle skirt. The first being the color. If you have a baby shower or ladies luncheon on the calendar, I suggest a floral or pastel – something cheery. Spring Cleaning

I have a love/hate relationship with spring cleaning. It is so refreshing to walk into a well-organized closet, yet the act of folding clothes is mind numbing. While you get ready to pack away your heavy sweaters and over the knee boots, here are a few items you should add to your spring “it” list: high-waisted shorts, fringe vests, lace-up shoes, and floppy hats. High-waisted shorts are a great versatile item to have on hand. You can wear them with crop tops or with your go-to blouses, and they pair nicely with jean jackets, blazers, and vests. Depending on the material or pattern, you can get away with wearing them during the day or night, with stockings or bare legs. In the featured outfit I styled this striped pair for daytime wear. I lived in Louisiana for five years and my husband was born and raised there. It is safe to say I have hit almost all of the touristy spots around the “boot” during my life as a Louisianan. Wish List Wednesday: Festival Favorites

As promised, I will be showcasing my festival favorites over the next several weeks. In case you missed round one, click here before reading on. Tracksuit for the Modern Day Fashionista

The last time I wore a a matching tracksuit was probably in the late 90’s during indoor field hockey practice. I was a big fan of those Adidas pants, that made a swishing sound as you walked, and matching jackets (insert laughing emoji here). Gone are the days for old school warmups…check out this sporty pair available at Rode’o Boutique! Along with water, shelter, and food, exercise is another essential item in my life. I typically spend an hour per day at “the bar” getting my daily dose of exercise induced endorphins. With the spring season, however, comes 5K and 10K road races and my hubby has us lined up for one at the end of the month. I’ll be swapping out the barre clothes for jogging clothes at least twice a week, beginning with this MinkPink tracksuit. I was immediately attracted to the print as it reminded me of a gorgeous Free People dress. The top is great because it provides enough support for a jog minus the suffocating effect.
