Winter White: Three Looks, Three Personalities

Out with the old, in with the NEW. I am here to reassure you that you are NOT committing a sin wearing white after Labor Day. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! There is nothing more radiant than a crisp winter white ensemble. Below are three sample looks, each with very different personalities. How would you identify yourself…Classic chill, Chic Snow Kitty, Winter Spice, or something in between?!

Classic Chill

The sweater dress is a wardrobe staple, and can be dressed several different ways. This look is what I refer to as, “classic with a twist.” Featuring a traditional turtleneck silhouette, the pearl frills add a modern day flair. Consider pairing this item with metallic accents like a clear and gold purse or even a pair of sequin boots! More is more especially when you’re working with a monochromatic (solid white) color scheme.

Snow Kitty Chic

Who doesn’t love a reliable onesie?! I’ve said it once and I am saying it again, rompers/jumpsuits are AWESOME because they do the thinking for you. You are off the hook coordinating an entire ensemble – simply slip it on and go! Can I get a hallelujah?! This snow leopard print jumpsuit features a plunging neckline and elegant sheen. I never thought I would say this but, I am jealous of y’all who live in a climate where fuzzy earmuffs are a necessity – not a novelty! Planning a trip to winter wonderland STAT.

Winter Spice

Add a little flavor to your winter garb with a playful bodysuit. These garments are perfect for tucking…they stay in place and do not create excess bulk in your chosen bottom! I love a sleek skirt and bodysuit combo and any chance to wear my real life glass slippers! This is my personal favorite out of the featured ensembles. I guess you can say I am spicy all year round, as this is no exception. Ha!

Gold Pleated Dress

Hi my name is Kelsey and I have a passion for fashion. Nothing shocking about that statement, right? But what is alarming is that I am wearing a: long, dark, dropped waist, gold pleated dress, and loving it! Never say never. Although slightly different from my assortment of spicy pink numbers, this item is surprisingly flattering and would make a great addition to your holiday party dress rotation!

When you’re doubtful of an item, but willing to give it a try, make it unapollogetically yours. What I mean is, add your signature flair! At first glance this dress appears too conservative to fit in with my funky collection. But the gold shimmer detail and pleats convinced me to buy it anyway. Have you ever shopped at Shein? Despite the questionable website design, it’s legit and so are the rock bottom prices. This dress was only $30 and part of the reason I was willing to step out of my comfort zone. Yeah, I have one of those too!

The addition of a rose gold belt and high fashion purse made all the difference here. I could have styled this dress with my black Gucci belt, but that was too predictable. Mixing metals is effortless and will instantly up your style game. Think about it – some of our most prized possessions and the accompanying accessories are now available in rose gold, silver, and yellow gold. The iPhone and Apple Watch to name a few. It is the “cool” thing to do! As we approach a new decade, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and wear something fun, fresh, and funky!

Wrapped in a Little Pink Bow Dress

‘Tis the season for all the parties. Whether you have a wedding to attend, an expecting mother to shower, or maybe you are the guest of honor, this sweet little bow dress will suit the occasion.

Special occasions call for photo taking. For that reason, I rarely wear the same “special occasion dress” twice. When I’m in the market for a statement piece, the Asos Design collection is the first place I look. So many of the items are under $100 and reflect current trends. This bow dress included with only a $60 price tag! The Asos Design collection is also size inclusive featuring: petite, plus, tall, and maternity lines. Hooray!

Feel pretty in pink wearing this stylish dress. It’s easy to wear as it does not require “sprucing.” The material is thick and stretchy, yet the cut is loose and flattering. It barely skims the belly and hugs the hips in all of the right places. The over-sized bow adds just enough oomph to this classic dress. Pair it with pearls for an ultra feminine feel.

Power Couple vs Powerful Couple

I have a problem with the term “power couple.” By referring to life partners as a “power couple,” it implies that some couples are not powerful, and perhaps they are not accomplishing life-goals together. Pardon the unsolicited advice: do NOT settle for anything less than you deserve!

In my opinion, SUPPORT is the glue that holds every strong partnership together – not the perceived accomplishments. And you should not have to beg for it! If your partner does not support your endeavors, move on. You are a team – a united front. Your partner should get pleasure out of having your back. We all deserve empowering relationships; anything short of a powerful relationship is below par. Don’t sell yourself short! Here’s to all of the dynamic duos, the powerful couples, in business or in life, who are making bold moves!

About the Look

Petite girls rejoice: I finally found a maxi that was made just for us. This beautiful flowing skirt is available in XXSP-XLP. Words cannot express the amount of satisfaction that came over me when I left the store without going straight to the tailor! It is the small things in life. Ha! I knew these pictures would be some that I would cherish forever, so I wanted them to appear regal. The lace and maxi combo accomplished just that!

Not Just Any Night

Jonathan and I joke that it is date year at the Kaplan household. We are always together. But what makes DATE NIGHT different from any other night is that we sit inside and experience the ambiance and decor (sorry GG!). It sounds ridiculous but we dine on so many dog-friendly patios we hardly ever enter the establishment. Putting fourth the extra effort and dressing up for date night makes it stand out from an ordinary evening.

Houndstooth Suit and Pearl Accessories

This probably isn’t the first time you are hearing it, but suits are IN for fall! They were all over the streets and runways during New York Fashion Week, and looking 9 to 5 chic has never been easier. From stripes, solids, houndstooth, to gingham, you name it – there is one for you. Now let’s begin with a baby blue houndstooth suit, shall we?!

If you follow me on Instagram then you may recall seeing this houndstooth suit! I could not decide between blue or the mauve until you guys chose the blue for me. In case you have no idea what I am referring to, Instagram stories allows you to poll your audience! Anyway, I listened to “the people” and they chose blue. I could not be happier with it! This pretty little thing is only $55 (no that is not a typo!) and the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. But for such a classic print this is not your average houndstooth print set. That is why I’m attracted to it. I can never resist a dramatic sleeve or fringe hem embellishment!

Three years ago I discovered Shrimps fashion label while perusing the internet for a jacket. If you can afford it, here is where you’ll find statement pieces GALORE. Known for their playful patterns, fabulous faux fur, and daring accessories, I have been dreaming about this pearl beaded purse for way too long! While Shrimps deserves the design credit, retailers like Shein and Miuco have finally come out with dupe versions. Let me just say, it was worth the wait! What is “transitional fashion?”

Everybody says it, but what does “transitional fashion” really mean? It’s a new season, get new clothes? I used to conform to those “rules” with regards to fashion. You know, the no white after Labor Day stuff. Well as I grow older (and perhaps wiser) I follow no one else’s rules but my own. I wear white whenever I feel like it, and sometimes even superwoman-inspired capes! But as we settle in to the fall season, one topic I see bloggers cover over and over is transitional fashion. What should one wear while it feels like summer but we’re midway through September. Allow me to explain how I address this nuance.

It’s easy to pack your wardrobe with the colors most commonly associated with fall. The greens, yellows, and brows. But this presents a problem if you are a lover of color, like myself. I wear a lot of vibrant hues and a lot of pink – regardless of the time of year. Rather than completely changing your color palette, consider switching up your accessories. Instead of straw, wear velvet. Or, swap the sandals altogether for a pair of booties (as seen here). It is never acceptable to sacrifice your personal style to conform to a set of rules you think you are supposed to follow. Tweaks like this make it easier to wear whatever you please 365 days a year.

This dress is not a traditional fall garment but it works in California weather! I LOVE the bright hues and statement sleeves – surprise, surprise! The mini length is great for booties and you could drape a jean jacket over your shoulders for added warmth. But if the temperature is already dropping where you live, don’t fret because there is a top available in this glorious print too. And it features an off-the-shoulder neckline. Is there anything better?! Now i just have to decide, is two garments in the same print excessive?!

When in Vegas, Wear a Rose Gold Wrap Dress!

The next time you’re on a trip, take advantage of you anonymity and wear something out of the box. I’ve had this rose gold wrap Kardashian-esque dress in my closet since June. I’m so glad I saved it because I had a blast wearing it over the weekend in the desert!

Eating and Dancing in Vegas

Now that you know what to wear, where to stay, and what to see in Las Vegas, let’s talk food and dancing! Conveniently located across the street from the LINQ is Hell’s Kitchen, home to world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay! From specialty cocktails, delectable apps and mains, to a heavenly dessert menu, you cannot go wrong with this restaurant choice. Standout food items include: meatball appetizer, beef wellington, and sticky toffee pudding.

After dinner, cross the street to the Cromwell and burn off some calories on the dance floor at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub. This indoor/outdoor nightclub features mostly hip-hop music. Dress to impress and prepare for a late night. Remember, the party doesn’t start till 11 pm in Las Vegas.

This rose gold wrap dress is PERFECT for a night on the strip. Not only would I absolutely freeze in a dress like this in San Francisco, but I would probably get a lot of puzzled looks! Las Vegas and New York Fashion Week have something in common. You can wear whatever the heck you want! I am always confident in my clothes (or I would not wear them) but it was my first time wearing a sheer-overlay dress. What little “anxiety” I had was long gone once I saw about 10 other women in similar styles. Full Disclosure: I had it shortened a couple of inches and I am wearing four inch heels. Aside from that, the built-in bodysuit and criss cross straps are petite girl friendly. Remember this the next time you pack for a trip to Vegas: ANYTHING GOES!
