I hardly EVER publish articles on the weekend. In all honesty, I was afraid this ensemble would sell out faster than I could blog it. So here we are…ready for the LSU Tigers to beat the Florida Gators decked out in purple in front of a gold house. Haha. Just kidding…well sort of. This little number is too good not to share on a Saturday, and will easily carry you from the office to happy hour. Not bad for a $60 set if I say so myself! The bold lavender and blush print is unique, while the chunky gold buttons add the perfect feminine details.

In my true Latina fashion, I styled the blazer as a top. I LOVE it like this but recommend pairing it with this turtleneck if you are a 9-5 gal. We are experiencing very mild temperatures in the Bay Area so I styled this look with sandals. Ankle boots are another great option or OTKs if you are “blessed” with stilts for legs! Now how many times do you think I will re-wear this suit during the fall? I already have one special outing on the books!

Think color

Yep, I said it…incorporate color into your ensemble and stand out from the crowd. Colors can subconsciously and consciously affect our mood. Think about it, when someone brings you a colorful bouquet of flowers you can’t help but smile. Well, whether it is you impressed with the vibrant outfit you put together, or the people around you, it gives off positive vibes. Tip: introduce bright hues into your wardrobe beginning with shoes and accessories.

Tame your Mane

“Dressing up” does not stop with the articles of clothing you put on your body. Set aside time to primp your hair. Ever since I was a little girl, bad hair days turned into bad everything else days! When you feel “put together” in the inside, it shows on the outside. I have Glamsquad on speed-dial and a hefty supply of dry shampoo to help avoid this dilemma.

Like what you wear

I’ll be the first to admit it, I am happier when I like my outfit! Quit settling for mediocre ensembles, and feel like a million bucks in everything you wear! If you follow this blog, then you know it’s possible without breaking the bank. So no excuses! Re-wear outfits you already know you love and freshen them up with accessories. If you’re an early riser, consider planning your looks at night. There is nothing worse than a dreaded “I have nothing to wear” moment when you’re crunched for time. What goes around comes around! I can still remember tying a Hanes under-shirt into a tiny little bundle inside the bathtub of my childhood home in the early 90s. Fast forward to 2019 and Kelsey Takes Tie Dye 2.0 is what I refer to as, “modern day chic!” 31 going on 13. Haha!

You already know my thoughts on biker shorts…they have the ability to be dressed gracefully and elegantly. Today’s outfit is a playful rendition on the hottest new trend. What you see here is a spandex romper and a high low top. I am always quick to cover my backside when I wear biker shorts. #BigBootyProblems. You never know what you are going to get in the summer July, weather-wise in SF. For that reason I topped off the look with a pink denim jacket.

When traveling by air, it is important to pack smart. You definitely do NOT have all the room in the world. Straw bags are great items to include because they are useful for more than one purpose. They make a great carry-on bag, a hella stylish beach bag, and a cute daytime purse. If fashionable and functional are important qualities to you, then here is what you should look for in a straw bag. A large interior space will get you from the plane to the beachside while an inside zip pocket will give you a safe place to store your most valuable belongings. Now that you know what to look for in a straw bag, let’s talk about where to shop for one.

Let the fun begin when you enter 2200 Bryant Street. This space is a glamorous girl’s dream come true. A dozen vanities perfectly line the beauty counter. From there you can test product, converse with customers, or consult a Glossier expert. Featuring skincare, makeup, body and fragrance lines, prepare for lighter pocket books after a trip here. I cannot wait to try the moisturizer, and Soothing Face Mist. After all, a good base ensures a flawless finished face. In fact, Glossier products are designed to “bring out your best…the makeup becomes the fun part, not the fix.” I think we can all get behind that.

I’m not gonna lie, I stalked the internet for the perfect outfit to wear to Rhea’s Cafe. As the Californians say, this place is “hella” instagrammable. Another two piece set to the rescue…suprise, surprise! This bodycon top and skirt combo is flirty and fun. The newspaper print makes for a unique design and the long sleeves are great for springtime in San Francisco. You never know if you’ll freeze or sweat! I styled this look with a belt bag and white booties, but some chunky platforms would work too. What makeup products are you dying to try from here?!
