Bridal Shower Decor Ideas

One of my obligations during my “New England Tour” was to help my mom throw my sister Kyla a fairytale bridal shower. Home decor is my specialty so over the last month I’ve been dreaming up ways to transform the “grand room” into a magical setting. Whether you are hosting a baby shower, bridal shower, or simply a summertime soirée, here’s how to throw an absolutely smashing party.

Theme

Always start with a theme. Having a theme and sticking to it will help guide you through the decorating process. My sister set the tone with the cutest fox invitations that the very talented Linda Norton, of the Crazy Fox Paper Etsy shop, helped her design. Once you have a theme, create an inspiration board on Pinterest. This will help get your mind rolling.

Colors

The colors and theme go hand-in-hand – I pulled shades of purple and pink straight from the invitation to jazz up the room. I dressed up the tables with lavender tablecloths and topped them with burlap and lace table runners. I incorporated pink with tulle bows around the floral arrangements. As an aside, find out if the guest of honor prefers gold or silver and use it as an accent tone.

Guest Engagement

Keep guests engaged with an interactive activity. Games are fun but not always necessary. We used an antique birdcage to house words of wisdom for the bride and groom. The options are endless. This “welcome” table was the perfect opportunity to incorporate silver accents and more burlap that my mom found at Walmart of all places! We stripped the labels off of a pair of wine bottles and marked them with the date of the wedding, then embellished the bottles with ribbon and baby’s-breathe. Last but not least, we adorned the Curly Willow stocks with silver bows.

Something Sweet

You can never go wrong with a festive dessert bar. Sweet treats are a great way to incorporate your theme colors into the food. While you cannot dye your veggies purple and pink, you certainly can create colorful and delicious dessert items. I whipped up a batch of purple chocolate covered pretzels (recipe here), and candy covered popcorn (recipe here) to include in the dessert buffet. Make sure you have a featured item. Ours were fox-shaped cake pops. If you’re in the tri-state area, look no further than Cake Pops by Marcy! These treats were equally delicious and cute. Flavor suggestions: Salty Caramel, Red Velvet, Carrot and Lemon.
