When people ask me to define my style I find it quite difficult. I have always been fond of color and all different art mediums. My grandfather was an artist (also a New York Giant – I kid you not) and it probably influenced my interest in the arts at a young age. Growing up I would pack my school schedule with as many hands-on classes that I could get away with. Ceramics and jewelry making were my two favorites. So when it comes to my fashion style, it’s hard for me to pinpoint because I love fashion as a whole subject. For the purpose of my blog, however, I have narrowed it down to edgy! I wear a lot of black, but hopefully I can convince you that it doesn’t have to be boring or gothic. So what does this have to do with my pink jumpsuit, you may ask? Allow me to explain!
After narrowing down my style to edgy, my gut instinct is to eliminate the color pink from my wardrobe. How could such a feminine hue be considered edgy?! Despite my hesitation, I’m here to tell you that it can be! You just need to mix it with some black. In fact, the phrase, “it’s all about the details” has never been truer!
The Essien Crepe Jumpsuit by French Connection is nothing short of fabulous. It is no easy task to make a seemingly baggy onesie appear flattering, but somehow they’ve accomplished just that. Maybe it’s the deep v-neck front and back. Regardless, I’m so glad I took a “risk” on this pretty pink number. To create edge, I dressed it with lucite lace-up sandals (I wasn’t exaggerating – I wear them 2-3 times per week!) and a black purse. I never leave the house without jewelry and Brynn Hudson’s baubles make accessorizing incredibly easy. I am wearing the rose bud and bangle bracelets and droplet earrings. What do you think? Is my pink jumpsuit acceptable for an edgy chic?!
