I have a problem with the term “power couple.” By referring to life partners as a “power couple,” it implies that some couples are not powerful, and perhaps they are not accomplishing life-goals together. Pardon the unsolicited advice: do NOT settle for anything less than you deserve! In my opinion, SUPPORT is the glue that holds every strong partnership together – not the perceived accomplishments. And you should not have to beg for it! If your partner does not support your endeavors, move on. You are a team – a united front. Your partner should get pleasure out of having your back. We all deserve empowering relationships; anything short of a powerful relationship is below par. Don’t sell yourself short! Here’s to all of the dynamic duos, the powerful couples, in business or in life, who are making bold moves! About the Look Petite girls rejoice: I finally found a maxi that was made just for us. This beautiful flowing skirt is available in XXSP-XLP. Words cannot express the amount of satisfaction that came over me when I left the store without going straight to the tailor! It is the small things in life. Ha! I […]
One of my favorite hours of the day in elementary and high school was art class! I was fortunate enough to attend a school district that did not skimp on class offerings of this sort. I enjoyed ceramics, painting, and jewelry making just to name a few. It was 60 minutes out of the day to let my creative mind (that I did’t appreciate I had!) roll, and forget about the common stressors that come along with being a kid in school. Fast forward to 2019 and I contemplate enrolling myself in adult art classes. But is putting together a thoughtful ensemble really that much different than a traditional medium of art?! My Art Project This look is what I refer to my “art project.” Using mixed mediums (a beaded corset and a water color skirt), I was able to piece together an eye-catching ensemble. Incorporating different textures into your outfit is a great way to create dimension and appeal. In this case, the pearl corset is an unexpected element to the design. The neon on the top and bottom (neon slides) pulls everything together into a cohesive look. Are you new to the neon […]
Before I was even old enough to dress up, I always got a kick out of watching the Kentucky Derby. Maybe next year will be the year to experience this fashion showcase in real life! Jonathan and I are at least going to a “watch party” tomorrow, but there is one problem. I do not know what to wear! Help me choose between Kentucky Derby Dress A or B. At least I have the hat situation in order. I have Show Pony Hats to thank for that! Exhibit A: High Low Dress This little white dress makes a statement on or off of the hanger. Can you say, DRAMA?! Maybe you are not a fan of horse racing but you or someone you know is getting married. The bride-to-be will stun in this dress at her bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. Help a sister out and spread the word about this $60 fabulous find! Exhibit B: Mermaid Dress Sexy yet sweet, this playful number will have heads turning! The body skimming fit flatters the figure in all of the right places, while the flounce ruffle button adds a touch of femininity. Again, if the wedding bells […]
Do you follow me on Instagram?! If so, then you probably know about the shoe-drama that went down last weekend. A very fashionable “Insta-friend” spotted a Kelsey Kaplan-esque pair of Louboutin sandals and sent them to me via direct message. That was it – I HAD to have them. They perfectly exemplify my personality and style in the form of a shoe: bubbly, extroverted, and BOLD! The Jewish holiday Passover was concluding which marked the end of my cooking extravaganza! I had prepared and cooked 24 meals in eight days without using ingredients that rise. That is breakfast, lunch, and dinner without using: wheat, flour, barley, oats, legumes (beans and peanuts) pasta, rice, and corn (I bet you don’t realize how many food items contain cornstarch in them). The Shoes aka the Passover Present If you have not already guessed, I rewarded myself with the shoes and my kitchen is closed for the foreseeable future. #ScaredForLife. I am referring to this investment as my “Passover present.” Sort of like a “push present” minus the baby. Haha! I think this is a fair trade off. Anyway, the Faridaravie Christian Louboutin sandal are the most incredible shoes I have ever […]
Rodeo Boutique in Baton Rouge played a huge role in the creation of this blog. Way back when (I worked there from 2008-2011) Shanna, the owner and my dear friend, told me I should start a blog. At the time I could not imagine a worse job as I LOATHED writing assignments in college. But after I left Louisiana and settled into SF, I discovered a new found talent and interest: writing! As it turns out, when the subject matter is something I am passionate about, writing suddenly becomes fun. Anyway, I have been a certified “fashionista” since birth. Before I was even 10 years old, I was helping a family friend price items at her New Jersey clothing store. I even modeled her collection of Dansko clogs in local fashion shows before they were a household name! And surprise, surprise I majored in Textile and Apparel Merchandising at LSU. Rodeo Boutique is a Baton Rouge ESTABLISHMENT. It is the go-to store for fashion forward clothing. Every single item is hand picked by Shanna and I would gladly own one of everything. I was amazed by her sense of style and taste since day one, and 10 years later, […]
