I’ve been the same height since Junior High. As I sit here writing this article, I am wondering how this is my first pair of platform shoes?! But after rocking a pair during New York Fashion Week, I decided they deserved a dedicated post. So here we are and here are three reasons all of my fellow petite girls should own a pair of platforms! Comfort Level One of the biggest pain points (literally and figuratively) when it comes to high heel wearing is that they are rarely comfortable. The higher the heel, the higher the arch leaving the ball of your foot to bear the weight. Platform shoes eliminate the pain point. The sole and the heel of the shoe are level on the ground. Score! Affordable fashion can still stun. An “insta-friend” messaged me the other day and said, “Your outfits are always gorgeous. Initially I thought they must cost a fortune, but you always share budget-friendly items. Thank you.” How nice is that?! While I cannot hide the fact that I LOVE Gucci and Christian Louboutin shoes, the clothes on my body are usually under $100. In this day and age where trends emerge so quickly, the items in my closet have a shorter life span. It is no secret that color is in for 2019. Not that I ever followed the “rules,” but color is officially acceptable for year round wear. This was very evident on the runways at New York Fashion Week and all of the style on the streets. I guess 2019 is my year! But one of my very favorite trends is the colored denim craze! Matching jean jackets, pants, and skirts…yeah that is a thing now, and I am here for it. I have always been a fan of a monochrome ensemble. They are easy to put together and effortlessly chic. It is hard to believe but this February marked my 5th time to New York Fashion Week! To say I am a “pro” is completely false, but I have learned a few things along the way. But before I begin, picture this: a hampster on a wheel wearing high heels. That’s NYFW in a nutshell! NYFW The hamster metaphor sounds funny, but it really is the perfect depiction. From the moment you commit to going, the wheel starts rotating. Perhaps you’re going a steady speed as you outfit plan, reach out to brands/PR agencies, then catch a breather as you wait hope for invitations to come. Then, from the moment you touchdown in NYC, it’s GO GO GO! You are running around to Fashion Shows, putting your best foot forward at brand meetings, and connecting with like-minded people from across the globe.
