Three Reasons you should Own a Pair of Platform Shoes

I’ve been the same height since Junior High. As I sit here writing this article, I am wondering how this is my first pair of platform shoes?! But after rocking a pair during New York Fashion Week, I decided they deserved a dedicated post. So here we are and here are three reasons all of my fellow petite girls should own a pair of platforms! Comfort Level One of the biggest pain points (literally and figuratively) when it comes to high heel wearing is that they are rarely comfortable. The higher the heel, the higher the arch leaving the ball of your foot to bear the weight. Platform shoes eliminate the pain point. The sole and the heel of the shoe are level on the ground. Score! Instant Boost We all wear high heels for the same reason: to look taller. Buy a pair of platforms and you will comfortably accomplish just that. Petite girls rejoice! Platforms are typically about five inches tall. Pink Bandage Dress

Affordable fashion can still stun. An “insta-friend” messaged me the other day and said, “Your outfits are always gorgeous. Initially I thought they must cost a fortune, but you always share budget-friendly items. Thank you.” How nice is that?! While I cannot hide the fact that I LOVE Gucci and Christian Louboutin shoes, the clothes on my body are usually under $100. In this day and age where trends emerge so quickly, the items in my closet have a shorter life span. Rather than investing $300 in a shirt or dress that I’ll only wear three times, I would rather buy three looks for less! This pink bandage dress is a great example. If you dress like it’s Valentine’s 365 days a year, then this dress is for you. It is only $68 and just as fun to wear as it is to look at. It is certainly fitted, but that is what you get with a bandage-style garment. Colored Denim: The “It” Trend for Spring

It is no secret that color is in for 2019. Not that I ever followed the “rules,” but color is officially acceptable for year round wear. This was very evident on the runways at New York Fashion Week and all of the style on the streets. I guess 2019 is my year! But one of my very favorite trends is the colored denim craze! Matching jean jackets, pants, and skirts…yeah that is a thing now, and I am here for it. I have always been a fan of a monochrome ensemble. They are easy to put together and effortlessly chic. But you don’t have to style your colored denim in sets. It’s poppy enough on its own. Are you ready to try it? Allow me to provide you with some outfit inspiration. New York Fashion Week: For Rookies

It is hard to believe but this February marked my 5th time to New York Fashion Week! To say I am a “pro” is completely false, but I have learned a few things along the way. But before I begin, picture this: a hampster on a wheel wearing high heels. That’s NYFW in a nutshell! NYFW The hamster metaphor sounds funny, but it really is the perfect depiction. From the moment you commit to going, the wheel starts rotating. Perhaps you’re going a steady speed as you outfit plan, reach out to brands/PR agencies, then catch a breather as you wait hope for invitations to come. Then, from the moment you touchdown in NYC, it’s GO GO GO! You are running around to Fashion Shows, putting your best foot forward at brand meetings, and connecting with like-minded people from across the globe. Mind you, you are doing all of this in carefully curated outfits, with freshly primped hair, and high heel shoes! Brunch with the Baes: Recap + Video!

If you keep up with my blog on a regular basis, then you know Jonathan and I recently held a contest for our mutual followers to win a brunch on us, with us! Le Marais Bakery was so very generous to host us at their charming Casto District location. They boast a beautiful Farm Table behind the pastry counter that makes the perfect space for an intimate get-together. Read more about this San Francisco “institution” here. Leading up to the event, a few close friends individually asked me if I was nervous about picking a winner at random. I really wasn’t and here is why! Ever since I was a little girl I was either put or putting myself in potentially intimidating/nerve wracking situations. I still remember introducing myself to my 3rd grade classmates, as Kelsey who had just moved to Connecticut from Puerto Rico.
