Palm Print Pants – your “Summery” Work Trousers

I fibbed. I said I would “retire” the palm print after rocking this romper in Cartagena, Colombia. Hopefully you will forgive me when you see just how fab these palm print pants are! When something is that good I loose all self control. I’m only human, after all.     Introducing the summery version of your traditional work trousers! Make a big statement without paying big bucks in these palm print pants – they are only $40. Anyway, in case you’re wondering, the legs are wide, the waist is high, and pockets are functional. These are three design features that are worth getting excited about. Now I already know that I am very “extra” in this ensemble. Call me Kitschy Kelsey if you want. But I just LOVE how well the embroidery in the sweater compliments the colors and print in the pants. For once I am thankful that July is our winter aka sweater weather.     Anyway, I think this look perfectly exemplifies why I would not fit in with corporate America (insert laughing emoji). But it does not mean YOU cannot wear these garments to your workplace. Consider styling them seperately, instead. A white button down blouse […]

Wedding Guest Dress – ‘Tis the Season

Love is in the air and wedding season is in full swing! As you gear up for your best friend’s wedding it is time to start thinking about your outfit. What will you wear to the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, etc?! I have just the right wedding guest dress for you, and it is only $130. Not bad for a special occasion item if I say so myself.     When dressing for a wedding weekend, it is important to ask yourself these questions: Is it an afternoon or nighttime wedding? Is the reception indoors or outdoors? Was the attire specified on the invitation?   If the ceremony is in the afternoon, more casual attire is acceptable. If she’s walkin’ down the aisle past 6 pm, a cocktail dress is the least you can do. The shoes for an indoor wedding are probably very different than the shoes you would wear to an outdoor wedding. And finally, when in doubt, go all out! I would much rather be the over dressed girl than the underdressed guest.     This dress by Adelyn Rae is simply chic! The hip hugging silhouette is ultra flattering and the lace fabric could pass as […]

Rainbow Maxi Dress in Colombia

I have said it once and I am saying it again, fashion trends are cyclical…they come and and they go. And at this very moment, rainbow printed garments are IN style. From t-shirts, crop tops, swimsuits, to dresses, this happy print is becoming a summer vacation staple. This rainbow maxi dress was a hit on the streets of Colombia but not a hit to my bank account. Can I get a whoop whoop?!     All of the rainbow print garments featured today are under $60 from Red Dress Boutique. You know my motto about fad items: save don’t splurge! Well, this $52 maxi dress is flowing with sass! The halter neckline accents your shoulders while the open-back design provides cooling capabilities. You do not need much to make this dress pop. Consider a statement earring and fun clutch. But if you happen to be in downtown Medellín, a piña colada from La Guachafita will do. But only if it’s served in a hollowed out pineapple! Petite girls…rock this stunner with platform heels or hem the skirt and use the excess fabric as a headscarf. If only I had thought of that before writing this post!     Shop the […]

Colombia Travel Guide: Bogota, Medellín, and Cartagena

If you’re reading this post, then you probably already know that I was born in Bogota 30 years ago. Mark my words: Colombia will be the new vacation “hotspot” within the next 1-2 years. So how do you get there from SF, and where should you visit once you arrive? Allow me to explain! From San Francisco the most efficient route is through Panama City on Copa Airlines! From Panama City there are flights every hour to the three major cities in Colombia: Bogota, Medellín, and Cartagena. Our flight was a redeye (not my favorite) but we didn’t loose any time getting there and South America operates on central time so jet lag really isn’t an issue. First stop…BOGOTA!   Your Colombia Travel Guide to Bogota, Medellín, and Cartagena Where to stay: Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia is located in the heart of “La Zona Rosa,” about 40 minutes from the airport. We had a wonderful three nights at this hotel and highly recommend it. The WiFi was complimentary, the breakfast was included with the room rate, the bed was heavenly, and the location is superb. Jonathan and I like being steps away from the action. City life in San Francisco […]

You Don’t Have to be Great to Start, you Have to Start to be Great

Originally I planned for this post to be about what it’s like being married to a plastic surgeon. I get this question all the time. Why not write an entertaining article about it?! But after getting these photos back from our photographer, I realized these photos are about the both of us. To me, they exemplify how much we have grown as a couple since relocating to San Francisco in 2013. If you recall, last year I wrote a blog post Five Reasons I love San Francisco. Well, I am happy to report that the honeymoon phase is still not over. It is here where we started not one, but two successful businesses and for that I am very proud. Looking back, it was very risky leaving behind two salaried jobs to move to the most expensive city in the country (we found this out after the fact), to craft our own “job.” Lesson learned: Do your research…     “You can’t do that to your parents” Never let someone else stand in your way of fulfilling your dreams. Growing up in the Northeast I made up my mind early that I would attend college somewhere in the South. I […]
