It is no secret that I do not have the most practical taste in clothes. I love over-sized bell sleeves, ruffles, and larger than life earrings to name a few. But with #BabyBae on the way I am trying to incorporate simpler items into rotation without sacrificing my style! Let’s begin with this unitard and Air Force 1 sneaker. When I tried this outfit on for Jonathan he laughed out loud! He said I looked like a mom straight out of the 80s. Well I was born in the 80s…does that count?! But he didn’t think it was ridiculous – he thought it was cute and harped on the fact that fashion really is SO cyclical. Here we are in 2020 and shoulder pads, spandex, AND fanny packs belt bags are trending! He encouraged me to wear my hair in a side ponytail but THAT would be crossing the line. Haha. Anyway, I have a feeling a unitard and sneakers is going to be my “mom uniform.” It’s comfortable, flexible, and you can easily layer one up with outerwear. This is my first pair of Air Force 1 sneakers. Y’all know I am better at walking […]
If you had to describe the year 2020 in three words, what would they be? My three words would be: heartbreaking, solitude, and joy. I had it made. I was the daughter of two loving parents (married for 47 years!), the wife of a loving husband, and living the California dream. Then in February I received the call I had been dreading my whole life. My parents are the most remarkable individuals I have ever known. We’ve always been very close. They have always been my biggest fans and supported my dreams and aspirations at every cost. Growing up I was one of those kids who’d rather attend one of my parent’s dinner parties than a “kegger” one of the high school cliques was throwing down the street. When it came time to apply for college, and all of the universities on my wish list were out-of-state, my parents never made me feel guilty about leaving home. Instead, they were excited with me. From 2006 onward, I lived across the country from my family. My dad and mom were older than my friends’ parents…the adoption process was painfully slow in Colombia in the 80’s. Their age did not make a […]
There are so many reasons you NEED this $26 t-shirt dress! Yes, you read that right. This cute little dress is under $30 and arrived to me from the deep south in less than three business days! I discovered Zeal Boutique on Instagram and ordered this tie dye dress immediately after. Not only is the price right, but it is the perfect addition to my transitional fall attire. Here is why! There are countless ways to style a t-shirt dress to accommodate the weather. To be transparent, I am wearing a size small and am 5 feet tall. Anyway, if the temperatures allow for it, wedges or flat sandals would accompany this tie dye number perfectly. It can also double as a swimsuit coverup if you have access to the beach or pool. Lucky you! And if the weather is cooling down, pair it with ankle booties, OTK boots, or a frilly jean jacket (how GLAM is this one?!). Finally, for the moms on the run, slip some biker shorts underneath for added coverage. If it’s an “add to cart day,” click here. Oh, and take 15% off your order with code KELSANFRAN. Happy Wednesday! Shop […]
2020 has been on the sour side for all of us. As we strive to adjust to the new normal, it is ok and normal to peaks and pits! Today I am sharing with you four ways I have turned the shelter in place from sour to sweet. Remember, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade…or wear a lemon print dress! Fresh Air Never underestimate the power of FRESH AIR! Spending countless hours alone at home can become quite isolating. Find a reason to go for a walk around the block. I’ll be the first to admit on a scale of 1-10 (1 being not paranoid and 10 being very paranoid) I am an 11 on the covid-19 scale! Regardless, I am a pet owner, and it is my responsibility to take my dog outside 3-4 times per day. My mood is noticeably elevated when I return from my walks with GG. Home Project When you spend as much time at home as we cumulatively have, you start to notice “stuff.” Maybe it’s a messy closet, or artwork you’ve been meaning to hang. Whatever it is, set a goal for yourself to complete one home project […]
Y’all know I am far from a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal. Simply put, I am flat out uncomfortable without accessorizing an ensemble head to toe! Some days I wish that was not the case…getting dressed would be a much simpler task. But I am who I am, and today I am sharing with you 10 Ways to Elevate a White T-shirt and Jeans. Glitzy Sneaker If you are less than impressed with the clothes on your upper section, give the people a reason to admire you from the ankles down. A pair of glitzy sneakers will be sure to do the trick. I love these, and these. Side Knot Transform your baggy white tee into a cute fitted crop top with a simple side knot! If the side doesn’t suite your fancy, try it in the back instead. Crossbody Bag When you wear your fancy purse across your chest, you are basically adorning yourself in fancy hardware. Try it and let me know what you think. Wedges Oh how I love a reliable wedge sandal. They effortlessly up your style game and you do not lose any comfort in the process. Headscarf Although I highlighted the “twisted […]
