Wish List Wednesday: 6 Fashionable Rain Coats

Those of you that follow me on Instagram, thank you for listening to my inclement weather woes. It has been the wettest winter in the Bay Area since the early 1980’s. I never thought I would say it but I am over-wearing my Hunter fringe rain boots! It was fun to pull these puppies out once a month during the first three years of living in SF, but now it feels like they’re all I wear. Shopping for wet weather gear is a little bit of a letdown, but there is nothing worse than ruining a fab outfit in the rain. It is no different than getting stuck in a storm after a hair appointment. That is why it is just as important to own a collection of fashionable rain coats as a pair of reliable flats. Use the following guidelines the next time you shop for a fashionable rain coat.   Hoods all the way Hoods, hoods, HOODS! If it doesn’t have a hood, do not purchase it. Hoods are so handy when you forget your umbrella or unexpectedly get caught in a shower. All of these will keep you dry on the fly.     Secure Pockets Good […]

What I learned at New York Fashion Week

Last week was New York Fashion Week and if you watch my Instagram stories, then you know I had the honor and privilege of attending a handful of runway shows and presentations. It is amazing that there is an entire week for fashion fanatics like me to connect and learn. I sat front row (pinch me!) at Michael Costello and Pamela Rolland’s shows and saw Club Monaco’s spring collection up close and personal. To say I picked up a “thing or two” is an understatement! Below is my springtime fashion forecast.   Do not let anyone tell you that feathers are out of style. In all honesty, the more fluff the better! Feathers are all over the runway in so many shapes and sizes and I love it. I have been a fan of feathers since I first dressed myself in them around age four! I think there is even a photo to prove it.     Jumpsuits remain hot items for the spring. From bell bottom, culotte, formal, and sequin, onesies are not going anywhere. The ivory and lace jumpsuits debuted during Michael Costello’s show were incredible. Mark my words…I will rock a similar version including the fro. Can […]

Lady Gaga Dress in New York City

I am “gaga” for Lady Gaga after her halftime performance on Super Bowl Sunday. But I am confident that I am not the only one who feels that way! Her energy and ability to entertain a diverse audience is very impressive. Furthermore, she does not lip-sync. Her act will go down in history as one of best halftime shows EVER. Did anyone else splurge on tickets for one of her upcoming concerts after watching that? All I have to say is that August 13th cannot come soon enough!     You may recognize this dress from a Wish List Wednesday post a couple of weeks ago. Simply put, I could not resist the urge to buy it! I refer to this little number as my, “Lady Gaga” dress. The shoulder pads remind me of her. I bought it at full price, but I am happy to report that it is now 50% off and available in every size. In fact, the entire Nasty Gal website is 50% off, but every item is final sale. Do your due dilignce and read the reviews and refer to the size charts. The material is not stretchy at all so I recommend sizing up. […]

Destroyed Girlfriend Jeans

I’m baaaack! I am home in San Francisco and back with the swing of things. New York Fashion Week was a dream come true, but I’ll delve into that later this week. Before I left for the Big Apple, I searched the internet top to bottom for destroyed girlfriend jeans. The search ended on a high note with this pair from Express but then I forgot to pack them. Typical. Anyway, during the wild goose chase I learned a couple of things about girlfriend jeans that are worth sharing. Hear me out.     Express is a great place to shop if you often alter your clothes. Most pants are instock in sizes 00-18, and available in petite, short, regular, and tall lengths. Apparently I do not disclose my height often enough because when I met my blogger friends in person they all said, “you are so petite – you look taller in your photos.” So, I am shouting it from the rooftops, I am 5 feet tall and the tailor is my bff. No really though, I need to learn how to hem my own clothes!     When you shop for destroyed girlfriend jeans look for a cotton and spandex blend. You need […]

Off the Shoulder Sweater

Today’s rendition of cozy chic features an off the shoulder sweater and you guessed it, faux leather leggings. I wasn’t joking when I said I wear them at least three times per week.     The product assortment at Asos is like no other. No matter the occasion, you are bound to find something. I’ve turned to them for formal gowns, sexy jumpsuits, and everything in between. The merchandise mix is great but the two-day shipping is even better! For only $19, take advantage of free express shipping for a year. This post is not sponsored but ain’t no body got the time to wait around for five to seven day ground shipping!     Decked out in Asos top to bottom, I paired this off the shoulder sweater with faux leather leggings (last seen here) and black over the knee boots. This combination is slowly but surely becoming one of my go-tos when I do not want to sacrifice style for comfort. It probably would have been a good idea to pack this ensemble for New York Fashion Week. They are predicting six to ten inches of snow tomorrow. Wish me luck! Good thing I traveled in my Hunter […]
