Festival Fashions: Tassel Dress

The streets of San Francisco were quieter this weekend. Some say it was because of the ever famous music festival, Coachella, down in Palm Springs. Regardless, we took advantage of the warm weather with photo shoots, a road race, and a shorter line at Sol Food’s Mill Valley location. If you have an affection for Puerto Rican cuisine, do yourself a favor and pig out at this “cafeteria.” Anyway, attending the festival and dressing in fest attire are not mutually exclusive. No matter where you are, it is still fun to showcase your favorite festival fashions!     That is exactly why I rocked this knit fringe number over the weekend. If you are in the market for a swimsuit coverup, spring dress, or spring sweater, this piece can pass for all of those things. Not bad for $34.99! Please keep in mind that I am 5 feet tall so it fits me more like a dress. Anyway, I slipped a full length cami underneath it and kept the styling simple with taupe platform mules. Because no outfit is complete without the right accessories, I added a pop of color by incorporating turquoise earrings, and hanging a colorful scarf off […]

Little White Dress

It is just as important to own a little white dress as it is to own as a LBD. Think of it as the spring/summer version. While some are deterred from white, because it can have the opposite effect of a slimming black garment, I beg to differ. Here is how to pick out a LWD that is right for you.     Color It’s not fair to generalize when discussing white garments. Just like any other color, there are slight variations in shades of white. Think about your complexion and choose a contrasting hue. If you have fair skin, go for an off-white or ivory. If you’re tan, the whiter the better.     Silhouette The shape of the garment is an important factor to consider when you’re working with white. If you have an hourglass figure, avoid shapeless dresses. Instead, gravitate towards dresses that accentuate your upper or lower half. If you’re pear shaped, consider an off the shoulder neckline and an a-line skirt. For rectangular shaped figures, create feminine lines with a halter neckline or fitted bodice.     Length The length of the dress sets the tone for the occasion. Think of a bride stunning her […]

Wish List Wednesday: For the Traveling Fashionista

I have a love/hate relationship with packing. It is exciting because it means vacation is right around the corner, but it’s also a tedious task. So how does a fashion blogger go about packing? Besides packing by outfit (jewelry, purses, and shoes included) the three items I never leave without are: a garment bag, a portable steamer, and a hair dryer.   Whether it is a hanging or a rolling garment suitcase , it is the only way to travel in style. I do not mean that you have to spend an arm and a leg on a pretty designer bag; rather across the board they make packing easier and it is the only way that I will tote my belongings. Your clothes are already hanging in the closet, why remove them from their hangers, fold them up (creating wrinkles), and pile them into a suitcase when you can hang them instead?! Pure genius if you ask me, and it makes me laugh that it took a man, six years ago, to point this out to me…no wonder I married him!     Hanging your clothes will minimize wrinkles. However, some will still form on delicate fabrics. It is an old wives’ tale […]

Food, Reviews, Travel, What to do/eat

Top Yountville Restaurants

Now that you know what to wear in Yountville, let’s discuss where to eat while you are there. Here are my top Yountville restaurants.   Brunch at Bouchon Does French food suit your fancy?! If so, reserve a table early at Bouchon and prepare to be wowed. Go for brunch and order from the brunch or dinner menu. If you’re in the mood for breakfast food, get the chicken and waffles. I guarantee it’ll be the most succulent chicken you’ll ever eat. Otherwise, the steak frites will not disappoint. Don’t be shy, keep asking for more baguettes and butter…you know you want to!     Cocktails at Bardessono Lucy Restaurant and Bar at Bardessono is where it’s at! It is here where, patrons gather for happy hour before shuffling off to their dinner plans. The wine and cocktail list is extensive, and the “Nibbles and Bites” menu will tide you over before your reservation. If you dig fried food, order the beer battered onion rings and curl up next to a fire pit to enjoy.     Dinner at Redd Reserve at Redd for a chic night on the town. This hip space is great for date night or groups […]

What to Wear in Yountville

If you’re looking to “do” wine country a new way, do it the Yountville way! This quaint little town has everything you need and some. Ever since our arrival to California, multiple people have recommended the dog-friendly hotel Bardessono, so we made it happen over the weekend. After 48 hours of luxurious living, we (GG included) already cannot wait to return. The service and property are both exceptional, and more impressive is the location along Yount Road. You are walking distance to everything, and across the street from the famous Bouchon Bakery…but more about that later.     Now that you know what you are getting yourself into, let’s talk attire! One of the things that I loved the most about Yountville is the world-class dining…more importantly, fine dining without the jacket requirement. Anything goes – whether you’re filling up after a bike ride or indulging after a day of wine tasting, you’re appropriately dressed for the occasion. Taking advantage of every opportunity to dress up, I changed out of my “travel clothes” and into a chic boho ensemble.     Chic boho is slowly but surely becoming a regular style in my fashion repertoire. This weekend’s rendition consisted of […]
