Transform your baggy white tee into a cute fitted crop top with a simple side knot! If the side doesn’t suite your fancy, try it in the back instead.

Crossbody Bag

When you wear your fancy purse across your chest, you are basically adorning yourself in fancy hardware. Try it and let me know what you think.

Oh how I love a reliable wedge sandal. They effortlessly up your style game and you do not lose any comfort in the process.

Headscarf

Now this is quite possibly the oldest trick in the book! A chunky necklace will make your outfit appear 10 times chicer. Mine is old but I’m eyeing this one.

We all need this bodysuit! It is an instant mood booster and a great item to have on hand for the holidays. Did I really just say that?! I CANNOT believe today is the last day in October. Anyway, there are two ways to style this bodysuit…with jeans and with a skirt. Today I am all about the latter, but refer here for jean inspo (think white denim!). When styling a statement piece, consider a monochromatic scheme. This is a very simple way to coordinate an ensemble without competing with the focal point (in this case the skirt).

To me, this look resembles liquid metal…the best kind – rose gold! To prevent your monochromatic scheme from looking too uniform, consider mixing textures. The sequins, feathers, and pleats create dimension and an aesthetically pleasing effect!

Do you follow me on Instagram?! If so, then you probably know about the shoe-drama that went down last weekend. A very fashionable “Insta-friend” spotted a Kelsey Kaplan-esque pair of Louboutin sandals and sent them to me via direct message. That was it – I HAD to have them. They perfectly exemplify my personality and style in the form of a shoe: bubbly, extroverted, and BOLD! The Jewish holiday Passover was concluding which marked the end of my cooking extravaganza! I had prepared and cooked 24 meals in eight days without using ingredients that rise. That is breakfast, lunch, and dinner without using: wheat, flour, barley, oats, legumes (beans and peanuts) pasta, rice, and corn (I bet you don’t realize how many food items contain cornstarch in them).

The Shoes aka the Passover Present

If you have not already guessed, I rewarded myself with the shoes and my kitchen is closed for the foreseeable future. #ScaredForLife. I am referring to this investment as my “Passover present.” Sort of like a “push present” minus the baby. Haha! I think this is a fair trade off. Anyway, the Faridaravie Christian Louboutin sandal are the most incredible shoes I have ever seen. The craftsmanship is outstanding and they match with any color in the rainbow – all of the vibrant ensembles in my closet. For today’s big debut I am wearing a high-low two-piece set with neon accents. If Superwoman had a fashion blog this is what her uniform would look like!

The Earrings

Speaking of bold neons, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Treasure Jewels. Your online destination for ear drama! Each design is beautifully hand-crafted in Colombia, mi “patria.” I have never received more compliments on my earrings than I do when I wear a pair of Treasure Jewels. Dressing in dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, and skirts 24/7 is simply unrealistic. So how does a gal like me incorporate tops into her wardrobe? Allow me to explain. When I am top huntin’ I keep an eye out for “basics with a twist.” I will always choose the white shirt with a ruffle embellishment over a plain pocket tee. I will buy the sheer top with puff sleeves over a fitted bodysuit. AND I will always buy the high-low top or shirt with an asymmetrical hemline! Do you see where I am going with this?!

Whenever I walk into a clothing store I make it a point to peruse the tops section. In fact, when I am with my mom I say, “do not let me leave the store without trying on or buying a shirt!” You can probably imagine my excitement when I laid eyes on this not so average high-low top! The color is dazzling, the fit is great (even for a five footer!), and the material is extremely resilient. I think we can all appreciate a low maintenance garment that hardly wrinkles. Now this is the kind of “jeans and a shirt” outfit I am genuinely excited to wear! Are you a top and bottom wearer, or do you prefer dresses and skirts too?!

This sequin jumpsuit stuns from every angle. The sweeping bell sleeves are regal and the wide leg pants are instantly elongating. And if you could not already tell from the photos, the pant legs are see-through and the garment features a peek-a-boo romper. This is what I refer to as “Latina sexy!” If you live in a cold climate consider topping your sequin jumpsuit with a faux fur shawl.

About the fit:
This sequin jumpsuit is not labeled petite but it definitely fits like it is! I almost always need jumpsuits hemmed, but not this time! This rainbow skirt suit is not your average tweed garment – the funky colors alone make it a total standout. But the puff sleeves, crop fit, and pearl buttons are what make it STELLAR! Has your mood ever completely elevated after trying on an outfit?! Yeah, that is what happened to me when I slipped into this little thing. I already cannot wait to wear the blazer with jeans. I may just pack it for my trip to New York Fashion Week – another reason to ride the tweed bandwagon. It packs well and does not wrinkle!

About the Fit:
This rainbow tweed suit is petite gal friendly. I would even go as far as saying it runs small. Across the board I find ASOS Design items to run one size small. For your reference, I am five feet tall and wearing a size 2 in the skirt. I always have trouble finding jackets/blazers that fit in the shoulders (I have a narrow frame), but this one fits perfectly and I wearing the 0. Size up if you are busty, but act fast because this item will not be in stock for too long.

People (I am specifically talking about those who like to dress up) often gripe about the fashion in San Francisco. This quirky town is infamously referred to as, “sweatshirt city.” There are a lot of folks walking around in their lululemon gear and sneakers. But we also live somewhere where the general populous is very health-conscious and active. I am ok with that! But what I appreciate even more is that when it comes to fashion, “anything goes.” Remember, this is also the city where a group of men ride their bikes and jog Bay to Breakers NAKED. I kid you not. A girl in a bright orange sequin dress is nothin’!

Last month when I spoke briefly with Avril Graham, Fashion and Beauty Editor of Harper’z Bazaar, she asked me what I thought about the fashion scene in San Francisco. I told her I liked it because it is easy to stand out! And you do not need a bright orange sequin dress to do it. When everyone else is dressed casually and you roll in wearing high heels and statement earrings, you will be noticed. I do not feel the same pressure to look a certain way as I do in NY or LA – thank goodness! When I first tried on this dress for Jonathan, he said I would need to save it for a gala or something. SURPRISE! At least he won’t loose sight of his dinner date.

2018 was a blast! It started off with my first ever blogger event, “Birthday at the Bar.” Ringing in my 30th year with my Bar family and sharing my love for the the exercise alongside friends was awesome. In May we celebrated our fifth year as San Franciso residents and the fifth year that Jonathan has been in business. It still blows my mind that we had the CHUTZPAH to pick up and leave a very stable life and move to the most incredible (yet most expensive) city in the US. Shortly after passing this milestone, I returned to Colombia for the first time in 30 years! We spent the most magical 11 days in Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. September was another big month. I was featured in Harper’s Bazaar during New York Fashion Week, and Jonathan and I comemmorated SEVEN years of marriage! Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I am looking forward to the sweet occasions the new year will bring. We already have a busy couple of months ahead of us, but before diving in, I think it is important to set goals and lay out some attainable 2019 new year resolutions. After all, “accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results. “

Ask for Help

I’m a busy busy bee, but I am a one woman show. Not only am I the Creative Director, Model, Stylist, Writer, and Editor of this blog, but I am the VP of Marketing and Outreach at Pacific Heights Plastic Surgery (aka the office of @realdrbae), Account Manager at BuildMyBod Health, and the Vice Chair of the Membership Activity Committee for the Junior League of San Francisco in my “spare time.” I need an assistant – like yesterday! I have no doubt that with help from the right person I can increase my productivity and sleep more restfully.

Procrastinate Less

I have always been a procrastinator…I pulled all-nighters in college more often than I am proud to admit. I justify this behavior reminding myself that “I always get the job done.” But what I have come to realize is that if you can complete the task in five minutes or less, take care of it right away! You are way better off answering that one-liner email when you receive it, than moving it to your to-do list because it’ll “only take a few minutes later.” Now wish me luck – this is not the first time I have pledged to end the procrastination cycle!

Nurture New Friendships

I am so fortunate to have lifelong friendships with some of the most sincere and entertaining humans on earth! But the older we get, the harder it is to make new friends. When you are young, you’re forced into situations where friendships are formed. Maybe you went to sleep away camp each summer, or you lived in a dormitory your freshman year of college with a randomly assigned roommate. When you are an adult and are capable of making your own decisions, it is easy to get comfortable with what you have. And if you are married to your bff or “other half,” it’s really easy to hang out with him or her 24/7. 2019 is the year I am going to initiate new friendships. There are a handful of people I converse with on a regular basis but it stops there. This year I am going to ask for phone numbers, send texts, and setup coffee dates.

Take More Risks

One thing I have learned about myself is that I am a creature of habit. I frequent the same restaurants and order the same dishes. GG and I walk the same routes and greet the same people. When you are content with your life, it can be hard to branch out. But it is not until you take risks or try new things that you will discover what you have been missing. This year I am going to be open to taking more risks with regards to business. I am going to try new things across the board. But hey, I am shooting these pics in a new neighborhood and that is not a Gucci shopping bag in my hand. I think I am already off to a good start! What are some of your 2019 new year resolutions?
