How to Throw a Hot Tub Party

It is always hot tub weather in San Francisco, and entertaining friends and family is one of my favorite pastimes! I’m finally checking hot tub party off of my summer bucket list ✔️ and spilling the deets with you. Here is how I transformed #ClubKaplan into a tropical oasis.

The Theme

Always begin with a theme. The theme is the “glue” that holds the party together. Next, make a list of the decor and food items that remind you of the subject. I chose a tropical theme, and when I dream of the tropics, I fantasize about Hawaii! Now do you see where I am going with this?! The “Aloha” balloon banner, tiki umbrella, and palm print seat cushions totally set the scene. For an even beachier feel, I attached fishnet to the facade of the hot tub and hung artificial flowers from it. I am extra and I’m proud of it!

Good Company and Good Food

Once you have your party people are in order, plan your drink list and food menu. I wanted to serve something that was refreshing and delicious, and easy to drink in the hot tub! ButterCans are all of those things and they fit perfectly into inflatable drink holders. Score! There is nothing better than a buttery chard and a side of pasta, am I right?! I served up colorful bowtie pasta salad in gold glitter champagne flutes – a simple way to elevate your table scape. Tip: choose plastic over glass to avoid messy backyard accidents. Finally, I completed the spread with a giant maple glazed donut cake. It is as divine as it sounds!
