Lilly Pulitzer for Target: It Has Arrived

The Lilly Pulitzer line for Target officially launched last Sunday…I wish I could say that it made its debut without a hitch. From the minute word hit the street of this exciting collaboration there has been quite a buzz. Anxiously awaiting to get my hands on these pretty prints (along with every other fashionista across the nation), here’s my experience in a nutshell.   April 18 11:55 pm PDT: After logging onto target.com from my iPhone and refreshing the home page a dozen times, the “Preview Collection” button turns to “Shop Now.” I hectically scroll down the list of products and find none of which were on my wish list…weird. 30 seconds later, I take a stab in the dark and add three random items to my cart, enter my billing and shipping information, hit “place order,” and a confirmation email shows up in my inbox at 12:03 am PDT.   Now after midnight early morning on launch day, I pull up target.com from my desktop computer. Finally most of the products appear and are ready for purchase. I start by adding the high-waisted bikini, matching coverup and the beach towel to my cart. All items were available in the […]

Wish List Wednesday: Desk Makeover

Investing in quality office supplies goes a long way. Let’s get real, you spend the majority of your day at work, so why not spruce up your workspace with some fashionable and new office supplies?! To me, new desk accessories have the same affect as new workout clothes. They motivate me to exercise and work harder! Well, if your desk is due for a makeover, look no further than Kate Spade’s line of workspace wares.   Everyone needs a reliable tape dispenser, stapler, and pen holder. This set includes all of them plus a caddy for a notepad. The clear acrylic design makes matching easy and the gold detail adds a touch of sophistication. If you’re not interested in the accessory package, no worries, you can purchase these items individually.     There is nothing worse than a pile of unorganized papers. File in style and get to organizing with the help of these gorgeous white and gold file folders. Available in stripes or dots, these things are far from an eyesore and will make paperwork more enjoyable.     Bow-shaped paperclips, magnets, and pushpins…I kid you not! Great for jotting down notes on your cork board or highlighting events on […]

Cool in Culottes

The last time I wore a pair of culottes was probably a decade ago. But because fashion is cyclical, turns out these fun pants are back in style! Though available at all of your favorite retailers in a variety of colors and fabrics, I stuck to basics and purchased a pair in black linen – great for the warm months ahead!     The “Ecote Farrah Culottes” in charcoal (black if you ask me) are fabulous! Featuring a high-rise waist, structured wide legs and pockets – what more could you ask for in a statement item. When it came to styling these things, I stuck to my own advice and went with a fitted tank. Balance out a loose fitting garment on the bottom with a tight fitting garment on the top. I decided to keep it simple with a monochromatic theme, and pair these pants with a grayish black printed tank top. Although it would of been a-ok to leave the shirt untucked, I tucked it in for a tidy look and fasted a black ornate belt around my waist. Belts can have the same affect on an outfit as a scarf. They instantly and effortlessly jazz up your […]

Chambray Another Way

Chambray tops are here to stay! If you haven’t yet read last week’s post “The Chambray Shirt for Spring,” head on over there before you continue reading this one. While the top featured in last week’s post was a classic button-down chambray shirt, this time around I styled Urban Outfitter’s Denim Pocket Tee.     I was particularly attracted to this denim tee because it could easily go dressy or casual. With a few business attire events coming up, I decided to take the dressier route and style this piece tucked into a pair of gray gingham trousers – the best pair out there. These slacks are medium-rise and available in regular, short, and long lengths – not to mention constructed out of extremely comfortable stretch fabric and machine washable. If slim fit and boot cut sound good to you, go straight to happy hour from the office in the Columnist Pant. In the ensemble below, I tied in the blue jean color with a navy belt and a glamorous blue statement necklace. Finally, because I’ll never pass up the opportunity to add a pop of color to any look, I completed the outfit with a pair of pink pumps […]

Springtime Sweet Treat

There is nothing more satisfying than a refreshing sweet treat on a warm spring day. With the rising temperatures, comes barbecues and outdoor social gatherings. Sweeten up the weekend’s festivities with this delicious pineapple pie!   Here is what you will need to whip one up:     1 pre-maid graham cracker pie crust 1/2 cup butter 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 20 oz can crushed pineapple 1 16 oz package Cool Whip   Begin by preheating the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, powdered sugar, egg and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.     Carefully pour mixture into pie crust and bake for approximately 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn heat to 350 and bake for another 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely.   In the meantime, in a large bowl, combine Cool Whip and drained pineapple. Spread cream mixture evenly over pie crust and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.     Pair this easy-to-bake dessert with a chilled Moscato or Rosé, and serve cool. Bring this pie to your next potluck and get ready for the compliments to pour in.     If you […]
