The last time I wore a a matching tracksuit was probably in the late 90’s during indoor field hockey practice. I was a big fan of those Adidas pants, that made a swishing sound as you walked, and matching jackets (insert laughing emoji here). Gone are the days for old school warmups…check out this sporty pair available at Rode’o Boutique! Along with water, shelter, and food, exercise is another essential item in my life. I typically spend an hour per day at “the bar” getting my daily dose of exercise induced endorphins. With the spring season, however, comes 5K and 10K road races and my hubby has us lined up for one at the end of the month. I’ll be swapping out the barre clothes for jogging clothes at least twice a week, beginning with this MinkPink tracksuit. I was immediately attracted to the print as it reminded me of a gorgeous Free People dress. The top is great because it provides enough support for a jog minus the suffocating effect. I am very picky when it comes to sports bras and normally only feel comfortable in the Free To Be bra. The length is slightly […]
The Rodeo Boutique showcase continues (click here to get the 411), but this time I’m having fun in matching separates…maybe a little too much fun! While driving around the LSU lakes, in search of a shooting location, we came across a vintage Chevrolet truck. It was our lucky day because the owner of the truck happened to be outside and got a kick out of us wanting to use it as a prop. In fact, he was suggesting some of my poses! “Southern hospitality” truly exists and this is a funny example of it. You already know I am a huge fan of two-piece sets because they take the thinking out of getting dressed. This tomato red pair, by findersKEEPERS, is simply chic. The fitted crop top features a wrap front detail and exposed back zipper, making it a great standalone piece also. Picture this stunner with white high-waisted flare leg jeans. I stuck to basics this time around and styled it with matching trouser shorts. The front pleated design and exposed zipper add just enough oomph to an otherwise basic bottom. Accessorizing with a solid ensemble is like the start of a new painting – […]
Once upon a time I became friendly with a clothing boutique owner, Tonya, in Connecticut, close to where I grew up. Heading off to college in Miami, FL, shortly after, I would routinely visit her shop on holiday breaks. There was no other place like it (so I thought) and I would return to school with a new semester wardrobe that no one else could replicate. After completing my sophomore year, I changed my major to Fashion Merchandising, but there was one problem… FIU did not have a merchandising major. After a lot of research and contemplation, I decided to transfer to LSU, in Baton Rouge, LA where there was an accredited fashion program. Carrying on with my life in CT the summer before I started, I visited Tonya to share my news. What are the chances that her sister owned a similar store in Baton Rouge close to the university?! I was in complete shock, but really excited at the same time. Tonya introduced me to her sister, Shanna, upon my arrival to LSU, and we were friends ever since. I worked as a sales associate in Shanna’s store, Rode’o Boutique, for two years before […]
Flawless skin…who doesn’t want that?! If you’re following this blog then chances are high you also keep tabs on the latest and greatest in beauty must-haves. Do yourself a favor and add Ashley Sievert Beauty products to your wish list…like yesterday! Ashley had an ambition to become a makeup artist at a very young age and would practice on herself by copying magazine covers. In 2013, she opened her first beauty boutique and began painting faces professionally. After a successful first year, she went on to launch the ASB line. I had the opportunity to try the ever popular products at her charming studio, outside of New Orleans, Tuesday morning! If you apply your makeup the Ashley way, begin with your eyes. There is nothing worse than messing up your perfectly applied under eye brightener with flaking mascara and excess eyeshadow. Next, skip the moisturizer and SPF. The mineral velvet cream works as both. Caked on makeup is a thing of the past and this stuff will provide you with the full coverage that you love, minus the orange effect. Available for all complexions, we mixed “La” and “Fiji” before applying to my face. If there is such thing as […]
Your beloved wardrobe is no different than a prized collection of baseball cards or coins. I do not blame you for having trouble parting with your clothes, especially those with sentimental value. Up until now, cleaning out your closet has been quite challenging, it is with great pleasure to introduce you to thredUP, the simple solution to making room in your closet! When your closet begins to overflow, request a “Clean Out Kit” to your doorstep and begin packing away your once loved fashions. Send back the bag with the included prepaid shipping label, and begin earning cash for the pieces you are no longer wearing. Professional buyers set the asking price, similar to a high-end consignment shop, however you have one week to make adjustments as you please. When consumers shop your goods, use the money to purchase gently used styles for yourself on the thredUP storefront, or transfer the funds to your PayPal account. If items in your kit do not sell, reclaim your possessions or allow the hire-ups to donate your garments to a good cause. If this is not “cleaning out your closet made easy,” I do not know what is! Over […]
