When I tried this outfit on for Jonathan he laughed out loud! He said I looked like a mom straight out of the 80s. Well I was born in the 80s…does that count?! But he didn’t think it was ridiculous – he thought it was cute and harped on the fact that fashion really is SO cyclical. Here we are in 2020 and shoulder pads, spandex, AND fanny packs belt bags are trending! He encouraged me to wear my hair in a side ponytail but THAT would be crossing the line. Haha. Anyway, I have a feeling a unitard and sneakers is going to be my “mom uniform.” It’s comfortable, flexible, and you can easily layer one up with outerwear.

This is my first pair of Air Force 1 sneakers. Y’all know I am better at walking in high heels than flat shoes so this is new territory for me. When I bought these kicks last week they were all over the internet. Apparently I was not the only one excited about the blush and iridescent swoosh because they are selling out quickly. Act fast! For your reference, I sized down half a size. They are a heavier sneaker then most, but they’re leather and comfortable straight out of the box. This is something I can definitely get used to…plus they’re available in baby/toddler sizes. It will all be worth it when the baby and I hit the streets in matching shoes (insert heart eyes). And so it begins…!

Fresh Air

Never underestimate the power of FRESH AIR! Spending countless hours alone at home can become quite isolating. Find a reason to go for a walk around the block. I’ll be the first to admit on a scale of 1-10 (1 being not paranoid and 10 being very paranoid) I am an 11 on the covid-19 scale! Regardless, I am a pet owner, and it is my responsibility to take my dog outside 3-4 times per day. My mood is noticeably elevated when I return from my walks with GG.

Home Project

When you spend as much time at home as we cumulatively have, you start to notice “stuff.” Maybe it’s a messy closet, or artwork you’ve been meaning to hang. Whatever it is, set a goal for yourself to complete one home project every month. It feels good checking items off of your to-do list and it’s a win win if it makes your home cozier. I am so happy with how our patio revamp turned out!

Try a New Recipe

Events and meetings are all taking place virtually, and we finally have the time to cook or bake. These activities are suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds. Beginner or expert chef, there is always something to learn, and always a new food to try in the kitchen. Click here for a few of my favorite weeknight recipes.

Phone a Friend

Make the effort to call or FaceTime your person. There is a difference between reading a text conversation and actually being able to see or hear your bff’s voice. Seriously. Use the time you have at home to catch up with the people who mean the most to you. It is good for the soul.

About the Patio Revamp

I mentioned home projects because this is something I have found to be so satisfying. When I returned to SF after being away I was on an organizing kick! Once I decluttered ever single drawer and cabinet in the place, I moved on to redecorating the living area and so forth. But revamping the patio has been my favorite home improvement. With simple additions like an area rug (under $100), string lights (under $50), a lantern (under $60), and fresh flowers suddenly this small 6′ x 6′ space is more inviting. Jonathan and I eat dinner on the patio most nights and GG sunbathes during daylight. What project is on your to-do list?!

A few months ago I saw my friend Khanh, of @SweetandPetite_ on Instagram, wearing the CUTEST sweatshirt featuring her dog’s portrait. I had to have one of my own! This exact design is from the Etsy shop DogoholicShop. And just like the name suggests, it is home to all the tchotchkes and apparel for crazy dog moms and dads like yours truly! The Custom Dog Sweatshirt, Shirt, Gaitor Mask, Neck Tie, and Pillow are a few fan favorites. *Please note the slower than usual processing time due to Covid-19.

Shih Tzu hair, Shih Tzu sweatshirt, and a real-life Shih Tzu…yeah I’m that girl (insert laughing emoji)! But while I have your attention, allow me to teach you a handy fashion hack. Believe it or not, this sweatshirt is hip length – I am only five feet tall. Crop sweatshirts are stylish and all the rage, but I have trouble cutting a straight piece of paper. Cutting a fleece-lined top is outside of my skillset. I skipped the scissors and tucked the bottom hem into my bra! It works like a charm for any longline shirt, and it doesn’t matter what kind of bra you are wearing. Cool, right?!

We all need this bodysuit! It is an instant mood booster and a great item to have on hand for the holidays. Did I really just say that?! I CANNOT believe today is the last day in October. Anyway, there are two ways to style this bodysuit…with jeans and with a skirt. Today I am all about the latter, but refer here for jean inspo (think white denim!). When styling a statement piece, consider a monochromatic scheme. This is a very simple way to coordinate an ensemble without competing with the focal point (in this case the skirt).

To me, this look resembles liquid metal…the best kind – rose gold! To prevent your monochromatic scheme from looking too uniform, consider mixing textures. The sequins, feathers, and pleats create dimension and an aesthetically pleasing effect!

Dressing up for happy hour makes it even more happy! My pink pants are only $56 from Asos and available in regular and petite sizes. I am wearing the 2 petite (size up one size) and they fit me like a GLOVE. The high rise waist is ultra flattering and the flare legs will elongate the appearance of your legs. I styled them with a glitzy crop top, but I am extra and I’m proud of it! Don’t be afraid to tone them down with a sweater or classic bodysuit. Top it with a blazer for a polished 9-5 ensemble.

Think color

Yep, I said it…incorporate color into your ensemble and stand out from the crowd. Colors can subconsciously and consciously affect our mood. Think about it, when someone brings you a colorful bouquet of flowers you can’t help but smile. Well, whether it is you impressed with the vibrant outfit you put together, or the people around you, it gives off positive vibes. Tip: introduce bright hues into your wardrobe beginning with shoes and accessories.

Tame your Mane

“Dressing up” does not stop with the articles of clothing you put on your body. Set aside time to primp your hair. Ever since I was a little girl, bad hair days turned into bad everything else days! When you feel “put together” in the inside, it shows on the outside. I have Glamsquad on speed-dial and a hefty supply of dry shampoo to help avoid this dilemma.

I’ll be the first to admit it, I am happier when I like my outfit! Quit settling for mediocre ensembles, and feel like a million bucks in everything you wear! It is no secret that I am the official pink lady…and 50 shades of pink remain hot for the fall. From minis, maxis, to ruffled out rompers, I am covering it all.
