We all need this bodysuit! It is an instant mood booster and a great item to have on hand for the holidays. Did I really just say that?! I CANNOT believe today is the last day in October. Anyway, there are two ways to style this bodysuit…with jeans and with a skirt. Today I am all about the latter, but refer here for jean inspo (think white denim!). When styling a statement piece, consider a monochromatic scheme. This is a very simple way to coordinate an ensemble without competing with the focal point (in this case the skirt).

To me, this look resembles liquid metal…the best kind – rose gold! To prevent your monochromatic scheme from looking too uniform, consider mixing textures. The sequins, feathers, and pleats create dimension and an aesthetically pleasing effect!

2018 was a blast! It started off with my first ever blogger event, “Birthday at the Bar.” Ringing in my 30th year with my Bar family and sharing my love for the the exercise alongside friends was awesome. In May we celebrated our fifth year as San Franciso residents and the fifth year that Jonathan has been in business. It still blows my mind that we had the CHUTZPAH to pick up and leave a very stable life and move to the most incredible (yet most expensive) city in the US. Shortly after passing this milestone, I returned to Colombia for the first time in 30 years! We spent the most magical 11 days in Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. September was another big month. I was featured in Harper’s Bazaar during New York Fashion Week, and Jonathan and I comemmorated SEVEN years of marriage! Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I am looking forward to the sweet occasions the new year will bring. We already have a busy couple of months ahead of us, but before diving in, I think it is important to set goals and lay out some attainable 2019 new year resolutions. After all, “accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results. “

Ask for Help

I’m a busy busy bee, but I am a one woman show. Not only am I the Creative Director, Model, Stylist, Writer, and Editor of this blog, but I am the VP of Marketing and Outreach at Pacific Heights Plastic Surgery (aka the office of @realdrbae), Account Manager at BuildMyBod Health, and the Vice Chair of the Membership Activity Committee for the Junior League of San Francisco in my “spare time.” I need an assistant – like yesterday! I have no doubt that with help from the right person I can increase my productivity and sleep more restfully.

Procrastinate Less

I have always been a procrastinator…I pulled all-nighters in college more often than I am proud to admit. I justify this behavior reminding myself that “I always get the job done.” But what I have come to realize is that if you can complete the task in five minutes or less, take care of it right away! You are way better off answering that one-liner email when you receive it, than moving it to your to-do list because it’ll “only take a few minutes later.” Now wish me luck – this is not the first time I have pledged to end the procrastination cycle!

Nurture New Friendships

I am so fortunate to have lifelong friendships with some of the most sincere and entertaining humans on earth! But the older we get, the harder it is to make new friends. When you are young, you’re forced into situations where friendships are formed. Maybe you went to sleep away camp each summer, or you lived in a dormitory your freshman year of college with a randomly assigned roommate. When you are an adult and are capable of making your own decisions, it is easy to get comfortable with what you have. And if you are married to your bff or “other half,” it’s really easy to hang out with him or her 24/7. 2019 is the year I am going to initiate new friendships. There are a handful of people I converse with on a regular basis but it stops there. This year I am going to ask for phone numbers, send texts, and setup coffee dates.

Take More Risks

One thing I have learned about myself is that I am a creature of habit. I frequent the same restaurants and order the same dishes. GG and I walk the same routes and greet the same people. When you are content with your life, it can be hard to branch out. But it is not until you take risks or try new things that you will discover what you have been missing. This year I am going to be open to taking more risks with regards to business. I am going to try new things across the board. But hey, I am shooting these pics in a new neighborhood and that is not a Gucci shopping bag in my hand. I think I am already off to a good start! What are some of your 2019 new year resolutions? There are a lot of things to consider when dressing for a wedding. To begin, check the forecast. There is nothing worse than over heating or freezing your behind off. Second of all, research the venue. Is the space dressy or casual? Will you be indoors or outdoors? What is the terrain? Will your stiletto heels sink in the grass? It sounds like a lot of work, but if you were invited to the wedding then the bride and groom are either relatives or good friends of yours. Ain’t nobody got time to be uncomfortable during the celebratory event! Plus, it’s way easier to find such answers nowadays. Rather than texting the bridezilla bride regarding your outfit, check out the venue and what guests were wearing on Instagram. From the app, simply tap the search box and then hit “places.” Type in the venue name and a slew of photos will populate. Reason number 9,559 to download Instagram.

Now that you know how to do your research, let’s get to the outfit details. I know I know it’s 2017 and the chances are greater than ever that the bride will not be wearing a white gown. Regardless, do not test your luck. Stay clear of all things white. I often dress in jewel tones and so far so good. But even if your color choice is limited, it does not mean you should dress untrue to you. Rather than a statement garment, gravitate towards accessories. In other words, do not show up wearing an avant-garde dress with leg-o’-mutton sleeves. Keep the dress and/or skirt simple, and go all out with the shoes, jewelry or hair.

Feminine Flair

One of the easiest ways to wear items from the men’s department is by mixing them with feminine pieces! I accomplished this with the most universally known ladylike items I own: Louboutins! Pearls or a fabulous handbag will have the same affect. Between the red soles and matching lip color, it is very obvious that I’m just a city chic kind of gal!

Get Funky

When you think of the camo print, boots, and utility jackets probably also come to mind. Consider styling your camouflage pants with something out of the ordinary. In this instance, I paired an off-the-shoulder poncho with my military garb. A cape blazer, bedazzled shirt or peplum top would all accomplish the same thing.

Confidence is Key

It sounds cliche, but kill it with confidence! It is a new year. Step out of the box and try something new. Wear an outfit you never imagined yourself dressing in. Purchase a pair of shoes you used to refer to as “gaudy.” I love fashion because there are no limits. Live it up!

As a natural sequin lover, when I came across these black hot pants, they were coming home with me. Although technically capri length, they fit me like cropped ankle length trousers…score! Featuring an exposed back zipper, pair these dazzlers with a crop top, or tuck in a traditional button down blouse. On this special occasion, I styled these pants with a white peplum button down shirt. Keep in mind, when you’re working with a statement piece, sometimes simplicity is key.

I accessorized this look with goodies straight out of this month’s Rocksbox (see promo below). The rhinestone necklace helped balance out my upper half, while the light pink Kendra Scott earrings added a sweet feminine touch. Incorporating blush back into the mix, I polished off the ensemble with my favorite metallic clutch by Urban Expressions.

Who doesn’t love a cozy sweater to curl up in on a crisp autumn day?! Especially when it is one that you can take from day to night. The poncho sweater, my friends, is a must-have item. Slip one of these on with a pair of leggings and boots for an effortlessly chic look, that happens to be just as comfortable as your pajamas! When it is time to hit the streets for happy hour, throw on some distressed denim, a pair of pumps, and off you go. Today I am talking pants. If you’ve been keeping up with KK and GG over the last several months then you know by now that I never pass up a good pair. Having been on the hunt for camo print bottoms since last season, when I found these black toned Camo Skinny Jeans in Lord & Taylor’s Design Lab Shop, confetti started to fly. These pants are perfect for many reasons. To start, the black hues make them easy to dress up, and the zipper details give you options. What I mean is, you can unzip the legs for a straight leg fit rather than a standard skinny leg. Although an all black ensemble would work, I paired these jeans with a white top and nude pumps to create a softer look. Thanks to the fringe sleeves, accessorizing isn’t absolutely necessary, so I kept it light with a dainty gold necklace.

You might be rolling your eyes and thinking “another two-piece set,” but hear me out! You cannot take a well-fitting suit for granted. So when I came across this beauty, featuring shorts instead of pants, it was a no-brainer to go ahead and add it to my collection of matching separates. My only regret was not finding this wardrobe staple before the 4th of July. Anyway, with a few business casual events coming up on the calendar, I knew this would be the perfect chic look. This time around, going for a tres classique look, I tucked in an ivory cami although an ivory crop top would have worked too. Staying true to the blue and ivory color scheme, I embellished the ensemble with a chunky pearl necklace, and nude patent leather pumps.

You can never go wrong sticking to neutrals, but the next time around, I’m thinking bright red! How cute would this have been over the 4th of July with red pumps and a red lip?! If you are attending a trendy affair in the near future, order this suit while supplies last!
