Pointed Toe Booties and a Fur Vest at NYFW 2017

Now that you know the basics about New York Fashion Week, it is time to get to the nitty gritty. Is it fun? Of course. Is it exhausting? HECK YES. Is the exhaustion worth it? Absolutely! There is so much prep work that goes into it, you literally play catch up upon your arrival. It was my plan to blog ahead of time…like there was time for that. Between the outfit planning, pitching to brands and designers, and anxiously awaiting replies, all I did was eat, sleep, and breathe NYFW the couple of weeks leading up to it. Below are tips to keep in mind during your first NYFW.

Be Open to Outcomes

Navigating NYFW is not an exact science. Do not set the bar too high. Rather, go into the week with reasonable expectations to avoid the feeling of disappointment. You have to be a Kardashian to get invites to shows like Gucci or Oscar de la Renta. Catch my drift?! Take what you can get. I guarantee you will learn something new.

Be Patient

Patience is a virtue especially during New York Fashion Week. Invitations will come, but they might come at the last minute. As a result, check your email often! Speaking of patience, it was my plan to take these photos in New York City but mother nature had other plans. It snowed 10 plus inches and my photographer’s flights were cancelled.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

You will be on your feel ALL DAY LONG. And you will be walking on all types of terrain. From snow covered streets, slushy sidewalks, wet subway stairs, to show room floors, you will walk it. Treat your feet to comfortable yet stylish shoes. I am an avid heel wearer. It makes me uncomfortable when everyone towers over me, but I learned a little trick. When the toe is pointed, the heel height does not matter. A pointed to will make the shoe look like an extension of your leg. Try it! It saved me blisters and foot therapy.
